Skunk Attack

Lauren smiled blissfully as she sunk lower into her bubble bath. Nothing would ruin this moment of –

CRASH!

Lauren jumped, splashing water on the floor. That noise came from the living room. Was someone in her house?

Getting out of the tub and wrapping a towel around her, Lauren tiptoed to the bathroom door and opened it. Looking around, she didn’t see anything or anyone. She exited the bathroom and walked towards the living room where the noise came from.

Entering the living room she noticed two things. One, her window was slightly open. And two, the thing that crashed was her brand new flat screen. Lauren gasped in horror at the broken TV on the floor; that had cost her twelve weeks of her paycheck! Snarling, Lauren marched over to the window and closed it. She was going to get her phone and call the police about this! No doubt it was those bratty neighbor kids!

Suddenly, Lauren heard footsteps on her wooden floor behind her. The person who had broken in was standing right behind her.

“Okay, listen you! I’m going to call the cops and you will be so – “Lauren’s tirade was cut short as she turned around and saw her intruder for the first time. Lauren’s eyes went wide as she began to think that she should have stayed in the bathroom.

Staring back at Lauren was a small, bushy tailed, animal with black fur and a white stripe. Both it and Lauren stared at each other in complete silence for a few seconds. Then Lauren made the biggest mistake she had ever made that morning: she screamed in terror.

Now, one knows exactly what happens when a skunk gets startled. In less than a second, the creature turned around, lifted its tail, and showered Lauren from head to foot in a yellow, foul smelling liquid.

Lauren shrieked again, letting go of her towel to rub the skunk juice out of her eyes. When she did this, she unknowingly let her towel drop. The skunk was startled again by this shriek and sprayed again.

Coming to her senses, Lauren blindly bolted away from the animal. She felt around for a door that would lead her away from this little monster. Suddenly, she felt a knob and began to turn it, but it wouldn’t budge. Why did she have a door that locks from the outside.

Lauren felt a spritz of liquid spray her backside, accompanied by that horrid smell that was attacking her sinuses. The pest skunked her again!

Fumbling with the lock, Lauren finally managed to get it unlocked. She opened the door wide and ran through the doorway, locking and closing the door behind her.

Lauren stood still for a moment, coughing, gagging, and rubbing her eyes. After a few minutes, Lauren blinked her eyes; she could see again, but her eyes were still burning and watery.

No sooner had Lauren regained her sight that she realized her mistake. She now realized what door of her house would seem to have a lock on the outside.

She was outside!

And to add insult to injury, Lauren looked down at herself and turned scarlet when she saw that she had lost her towel somewhere in the house. She was not just outside while smelling like the wrong end of a skunk; she was naked outside while smelling like the wrong end of a skunk!

Lauren shrieked again as she covered herself the best she could, trying to think about what to do next.
