It attacks

Dani saw its sillouette shoot down the passenger side of the car. She gasped, and immediately turned to run into the woods. She didn't dare glance back over her shoulders. The image in her head raged in her mind. It had no eyes, but its mouth...its mouth was impossibly large and full of jagged teeth. Wire-like muscle rippled over a whitish-gray mottled skin.

She ran, dodging trees and listening as it bounded through the woods behind her, leaping into branches and back to the wet forest floor. She ran, praying it wouldn't hear her over the rain. She ripped the jacket off and tossed it behind her. Mere seconds later, she heard it drop into the spot and stop, sniffing, licking...

Dani used the distraction to change direction, barrelling up and around a hill. Her blouse was soaked and clinching to her body. Her chest heaved in the wind and the rain, a wind that blew her noises away from whatever it was behind her and up the hill. She heard it coming again. Dani stole a glance backward. It was barely illuminated by the rapidly fading headlights, and it was running in the wrong direction at the base of the hill. She sighed and stopped by a tree, watching it disappear into the dark and wet of the forest below.

Her heaving chest didn't slow. She sank to her knees and gasp for air. It was then that she realized she was at the top of the hill. What little breath she had earned was ripped away by what she saw.
