The Wardens depart with a gift from Flemeth to boot
Aedan was certainly happy, not only due to having some sexual fun with the older and experienced Flemeth but also upon exiting Flemeth's hut after arming himself in his Warden arms and armor did he see the scantily-clad daughter of Flemeth along with Alistair in his full Warden armaments along with his loyal mabari, Dane.
His pet warhound was currently playing with the blonde-haired Warden while Morrigan was merely scowling at the mabari.
"Good boy" Alistair cooed as he bent down and scratched Dane behind the ear as the mabari dropped a stick in front of him to which Alistair picked up and threw in front of him to which Dane eagerly turned and sped to catch the stick.
"Mother, next time you decide to take a man to your bed do you think you could be a little quicker finishing him off?" Morrigan said scathingly as both Aedan and Flemeth exited the hut. The young witch was clearly unhappy "the less time I have to speak to fool's like this" she pointed to Alistair who was playing fetch the stick with Dane "the better"
"Ah, good. You're okay" Alistair said in relief as he heard Morrigan spoke and turned his attention away from Dane and towards his other Grey Warden companion.
Dane was clearly the most happy to see Aedan up and about as the mabari sprinted towards the young noble and barrelled into Aedan causing him to fall backwards as Dane licked his face before the young man gently pushed the mabari off him "I'm fine boy, I'm okay" he said reassuringly as he scratched the large wardog behind the ear causing him to bark happily.
"So, we were saved by a flying witch in case she hasn't told you" Alistair informed, happy that he wasn't the only remaining alive Warden in Fereldan.
"What?" Aedan said, puzzled.
"I took on the form of a giant bird and plucked the two of you and your" Flemeth looked at Dane in disdain "mutt from the Tower of Ishal"
Aedan frowned, confused "you did?"
Flemeth fixed her gaze on Aedan "not all magic is learned from within a Circle or even approved of, young man"
"That's...true" Aedan surmised "for what it's worth, thank you" he said sincerely
"No need for thanks, you already thanked me more than enough just now" a devious smile on her lip's. Its meaning Morrigan caught onto quickly with a roll of her eye's while Alistair looked rather confused.
"I still can't believe it, why would Loghain do this? why abandon the king of all people?" Alistair pondered aloud.
Aedan was confused "wait what? what are you talking about? Loghain betrayed King Cailan?"
"Loghain it seems preferred to keep his own life rather than save his own hotheaded young boy-king. I can't say I blame him" Morrigan shrugged.
Alistair looked at the young witch, shocked "you agree with what Loghain did? he abandoned his king, he caused everyone fighting at Ostagar to die, the king is dead, the other Warden's are dead and so is Duncan!"
"Alistair, calm yourself" Aedan said, attempting to defuse the situation before it got any further "so you mean to say that everyone except me, you and Dane here" he scratched his mabari behind the ear again "are the only ones who survived Ostagar?"
"Yes" Alistair said dejectedly "Loghain was responsible for Duncan's death!" he mumbled.
Duncan was dead...the man who had wound up being the one who ensured he survived Howe's treachery and inducted him into the Warden's was dead. It was brutally clear that Duncan meant a lot to Alistair judging by how the blonde Warden seemed more upset about the bearded Warden's death than King Cailian's death.
"That coward, Loghain will pay" Alistair growled
Aedan was curious "what exactly did Loghain do, Alistair?"
"He fled" Alistair crossed his arm's over his chest "after we lit the signal fire he turned and abandoned the king, Duncan and everyone else. The darkspawn won the battle at Ostagar" he sighed "all because of the treachery of Loghain Mac Tir" he spat the teyrn's name out like poison "everyone at Ostagar except us is now dead or on their way to becoming a darkspawn!"
"Just out of curiosity, not that I'm not grateful but why did you save us, Flemeth?" Aedan asked, he certainly was happy about it but why? surely she didn't save him, Alistair and Dane just so she could have a go at his cock.
"Well someone has to do something about these darkspawn do they not? We can't have all the Grey Wardens dying at once" she explained.
Aedan nodded "point taken" it did make sense, Flemeth was a powerful apostate with a no doubt equally powerful daughter but just two witches would not be enough to stop the Blight.
"But we were doing perfectly fine defeating the darkspawn, the king had nearly defeated them! why would Loghain do this?" Alistair pointed out.
"I already told you why he likely did it, foolish boy" Morrigan stated.
Flemeth looked to her daughter and then back to Alistair "perhaps my daughter is correct or maybe not. Men's heart's can hold shadow's darker than any tainted creature" Flemeth continued "perhaps he thinks the Blight is an army he can outmanoeuvre and does not see that the evil behind it is the true threat"
"The archdemon" Alistair replied.
"The archdemon, that's the big evil thing that's responsible for this Blight isn't it?" Aedan guessed
"Pretty much" Alistair said bluntly. "Whatever it is it needs to die.
Aedan frowned "and how exactly are we supposed to defeat it, Alistair? we are the only two Grey Warden's alive and the entire army was as you stated killed at Ostagar. It's just the two of us, we have no army to take something like that down!"
"You are not entirely out of options as you so think" Flemeth noted before she left and entered her hut that she had been fucking Aedan in prior and quickly returned with something that clearly Alistair had forgotten.
"Of coarse, the treaties!" he reminded himself as he looked through the pieces of parchment in his grasp, pieces of parchment that demanded the aid of dwarves, mage's and elves to help during the Blight.
"We should probably get going soon" Aedan noted "if the darkspawn have overrun Ostagar then who knows how long it'll be before they reach anywhere safe.
"So you are set then, ready to become Grey Wardens" Flemeth stated.
"I guess we are" Aedan smiled before it faltered "we're the only two remaining Grey Wardens. This isn't going to be easy" he sighed.
Flemeth scoffed "life never is"
"Thats true" Alistair mumbled, Aedan had no doubt once again the blonde Warden's mind was lingering on the death of Duncan. An idea then seemingly came to Alistair "we should go to Redcliffe and speak to Arl Eamon. If he knew what Loghain did at Ostagar he'd be the fist to call for his execution!"
"I take it you know Arl Eamon well enough?" Aedan asked.
Alistair scratched the back of his neck "well I wouldn't exactly call us bestest buddies but I know him enough that he would no doubt side with us over Loghain. He wasn't at Ostagar, he still has all his men. And he was Cailan's uncle" Alistair continued "I know him, he's a good man and respected in the Landsmeet
"That's....not such a terrible idea, actually" Aedan agreed
"Before you leave I have but one more gift for you" Flemeth said before she beckoned Morrigan over "as you heard these fine gentlemen will be departing shortly and you shall be joining them" she added in a tone that left no room for argument, the kind that Aedan had no doubt all mother's had every once in a while.
"Such a sham...WHAT?" the young witch gasped in sudden realization.
Flemeth smirked "You heard me, girl. The last time I looked you had ear's"
"I appreciate the offer Flemeth, I really do" having such a beautiful witch along for the ride would be nice, but it was clear Morrigan had no wish to join them "but if she does not wish to come then I shant force her to"
Flemeth waved off Aedan's reply "her magic will be of great aid to you, furthermore she knows the Wilds and how to get past the horde"
If looks could kill the scowl that Morrigan was directing at her mother would've killed the busty older witch twice over. "Have I no say in this?"
Flemeth seemed unfazed by the scowl her young daughter was sending her way "you have been itching to get out of the Wilds for some time" she pointed out.
"Very well, she can come with us" Aedan nodded.
Alistair looked at Morrigan and then to Flemeth, his voice sceptical "not to look a gift horse in the horse but are we sure this is wise, Aedan? out of the Wilds, she's an apostate" he said gesturing to Morrigan.
Aedan shrugged "and I am what might be the last surviving Cousland that Arl Howe has no doubt put a bounty on my head that any mercenary in Fereldan is more than likely eager to attempt to collect on. Thus anybody coming for my head will inevitably have to be going after your head too, Alistair. Unless you do not wish to defend a fellow Warden when a mercenary comes for my head"
"I never said that I wouldn't, and..." Alistair sighed "okay, I see your point"
Flemeth laughed "it's good to see at least one of you has some common sense" the witch smiled at Aedan before she turned her gaze to Alistair "and if you do not wish help from us illegal mages young man then perhaps I should have left you on that tower"
"Mother, this is not how I wanted this" Morrigan's voice seemed to be wavering slightly, almost nervous? "I am not even ready"
"You must be ready" Flemeth declared "Alone these two must unite Fereldan against the darkspawn. They need you Morrigan, without you they will most likely fail trying to get out of the Wilds succesfully" she laughed
Morrigan sighed "I...understand"
"And you Wardens, do you understand?" Flemeth's gaze seemingly bore into both Aedan and Alistair's soul's "I give you that all which I value in this world. It do it so you must succeed"
"She won't come to any serious harm with us" Aedan smiled reassuringly.
Morrigan shuffled her feet on the spot, apprehensive about leaving the safety of her mother's home "allow me to get my things if you please" and after a few minutes of waiting as Morrigan disappeared into Flemeth's hut and shortly returned with a sack strapped onto her back which was open at the top enough to see what seemed to be a sleeping roll along with what he presumed was a small rolled up tent hanging underneath the sack, attached to it via a few strap's which reminded Aedan that he should probably look into getting a sleeping roll and tent for he himself and Alistair.
"I am at your disposal, Grey Wardens. I suggest we visit a small village just to the north called Lothering" Morrigan advised "tis not far and you will find much you need there"
Aedan nodded "sounds good. Let us be on our way then"
