Let Willow Take The Lead

“Yeah. That be better. We might need the horses afterwards if we have a lot of prisoners.”

“Very well. She can take the front of the bridge and I will take the rear of the bridge and prevent them from escaping though they will have a hard time turning around on that small bridge. Our archer will be able to hit the drivers easy enough from how I have seen him shoot. Then join us on the bridge were we will have them pinned in.” Sura shrugged. She had clearly thought this through. She might have made an excellent chief one day.

“Sounds like a plan. Once the king is far enough away my people can attack the city and they should surrender pretty quickly without anyone to lead them. Especially if what you said is true about the weak west front. If not they have poor defenses against any siege artillery and archer fire though we rather it not come to that as civilians could get hurt.” Willow shook her head.

Come twilight the three of us we road north then into the hills over looking goblin town. It was far bigger then I pictured. Not as large as crescent city but large enough to house several hundred goblins. The streets seemed to have no reason as the twist and turned among countless small homes. They at least seemed to have some sense of agriculture with small farms built around the area.

“And there they go.” Sura pointed as the gate opened and pulled out a spy glass.

“Five wagons, about two dozen in each. Give or take a little over a two hundred prisoners.” Willow said as she shielded her eyes from the sunlight. How the hell she saw all that was beyond me.

“The king is in the carriage no doubt all three orcs with him. Six goblins driving and five with crossbows riding along. Three orcs. Heavily armored.” Sura said looking through the spyglass then handed it to me. Calling the king ride a carriage was a bit of a joke looking more like a wagon with wood thrown on top. I looked at the city and saw a naked goblin woman who was bent over with her head and arms in stocks. A goblin stood on a platform behind her as he fucked her while two others stood behind him waiting their turns making the slaves watch.

"Fucking bastards. There **** the women." I said gritting my teeth and handing the spy glass to Sura.

"We have to rescue the others first. Cut off the head of the snake and let the general deal with the town.” Willow said touching my shoulder. It wasn't like we could save her without an army to take the town. They would wait for the king to be far enough from the town before they attacked.

We road north to the bridge and took up places and waited. Sura knew here stuff. The bridge spanned a long length of river with rocks and rapids below. Most likely meaning **** for anyone who fell or jumped off. I drove several arrows into the ground so I could grab them faster and took a knee behind some bushes.

I could hear my heart racing as they neared the bridge. Two of the orcs were toward the front while the third had feel back to the rear. They seemed wary and on guard and with good reason but they still passed over the bridge. I held an arrow in hand and waited as I aimed for the lead horse just in case Willow couldn't put it to sleep. The horse stopped and sat down then laid its head on the ground. The goblin driver began to yell at it and I fired hitting him in the head. I fired at the next and took him down. The rear one began to try and turn and I hit him before he could. Sura ran out of the woods behind them on horseback and a goblin charged at her and rolled under her sword as she swung and took out the horses leg sending her tumbling off her horse. I shot the goblin before he could finish her off and she popped up and looked at me and nodded. The rear orc came at her and they clashed swords.

The lead orcs ran forward and Willow drew two swords from her back. Both were heavily armored and only their upper arms, thighs, faces were bare as they wore open faced helmets. I fired at one while she had him distracted but he threw up a wooden shield to block. He ran and stepped up on the bridge and jumped a distance I knew I could never make. I fired again and he blocked it with his shield and closed the gap between us.

“Ignis.” I yelled and shot a bolt of fire at his shield setting it aflame. He flung it off and onto the ground and I drew my sword as he charged at me and swung a large maul at me with two hands as I managed to jump back as it hit the ground. Sending dirt flying making me shield my eyes. One hit with that fucking thing and I was as good as dead I thought as the maul barely missing me. He swung it wide and I ducked under I managed to slash him along the thigh and he elbowed me sending me down onto the ground. He swung his maul overhead. I dodged and rolled across the ground maul came down on it and a rock shattered into pieces. I got up onto my feet as he gripped the maul with two hands and swung it overhanded at me as he let it go. I barley dodged as it splintered a tree beside me and stuck.

He drew a long sword from his back. A goblin soldier ran past him towards me and he swung his sword and sent the little green bastards head flying one way and as the body tumbled onto the ground another. Guess this was between me and him it seemed. I dodged and deflected his and cut him across his bicep. He elbowed me in the face and stumbled back. He swung and slashed into my arm cutting into the leather which kept him from cutting my arm clean off but seared with pain. He kicked me into the chest and I stumbled back into a tree. I ducked as he almost cleaved my head clean off. His sword cleaving into the wood. Before he could pull it back out I severed his arm clean off at the elbow.

He swung his other hand around and punched me in the face then grabbed me and swung me across the ground as I tumbled and I lost my sword. I got up as he picked up my sword and I drew my dagger. He held his stump of an arm against his side. He would bleed to **** but not before he tried to take me with him.
