What's next?

A Small Mistake

"Alright Mike, are you there?" Janet looked around the empty storage room.

After some convincing and teasing, Mike had sat back down and preformed the spell again. Once again, he was jolted out of his body and thrown back across the room, although this time with a lot less surprised tumbling. With his body once again an empty husk seated at the desk, Mike flew in a circle around the the old storage space. "I think I can get the hang of this!" He laughed to no reaction from Janet. "Oh right, she can't hear me."

"Mike? Oh! Damn it!" She jumped as he once again goosed her. "Can't you just, like, talk or something? Like speak with your mind or something?"

"Janet it doesn't work like...wait." Mike stopped flying around and thought. Did it?

He focused on Janet and began to think at her. Or something, he did not really know what he was doing.

Janet. He thought, and she did not react. "Yeah that probably wasn't going to work." He shook his unseen head.

"I got it!" He needed something to write with. "Be right back!" He called out to the woman who could not hear him as he flew off to grab a pen and paper from the reference desk he was supposed to be sitting at.

Janet looked around the room, waiting for some other sign of her invisible co-worker. She looked over in surprise as the door to the storage room suddenly opened and closed on its own. After standing there in silence for a moment, she called out, "Son of a bitch, did you just leave me with your corpse?!"

Unnoticed behind her, the pages of the book rustled slightly. From between the pages of an earlier chapter now closed, something had emerged. Well actually, it had never left. A small glowing purple light wriggled out from between the leaflets of bound paper and darted up to hover over the book. Janet, with her back still turned, did not see the light suddenly zip up to Mike's ****, empty form and fly up his left nostril.

"Mike?" Janet turned as her co-worker began to stir. "Well that was fast. Did you get bored already?" She shook her head teasingly as he pushed himself up from the desk.

He looked at her and smiled, before reaching down to pick up the book. "Mike... are you alright?" She questioned slowly. Something about the look in his eyes did not seem right.

"You know, you tasted absolutely delicious down there. I can see why he likes you." Mike spoke as he absent mindedly flipped through the pages of the magical book, his voice sounding strangely off.

"I tasted... Mike what the hell are you talking about? If I remember correctly, the closest you've gotten to my crotch is..." Her voice trailed off as Mike looked back up at her with a smile.

"Who said I was Mike?" The thing in Mike's body asked.

For a moment, Janet thought she saw a purple glow in her co-worker's eyes. The same type of glow as those lights that had lifted her into the air and slipped into her panties. The same lights from the book.

"Oh... shit." Janet turned to run, and Mike's body uttered a strange single syllable word.

The door in front of her suddenly vanished. Not to reveal any sort of opening, it just disappeared and was replaced by more brick wall. "Oh fuck." She stopped and turned slowly around. That had been the only exit.

The thing that was not Mike was looking nonchalantly at the book as the pages flipped and turned on their own. "Janet, don't worry." Mike's strange voice purred. "I'm not going to hurt you."

"What... What do you want?" Janet stammered as her heart began to race.

The thing in Mike smiled. "I just want to have some fun."

Mike's invisible form flew up to the reference desk and he quickly began to search for a pen and paper. As he searched, he jumped up in surprise when a voice asked, "Hello?"

"Gah!" He jumped back in surprise as a cute brunette stared at him.

"Helloooo?" She asked again, looking past him back behind the desk as she searched for a librarian to assist her.

Oh. She was just a patron. Mike flew around the desk and eyed her up and down. A very attractive patron. Mike looked back towards the hallway where he had left Janet. He decided she could wait a few more minutes as he turned his attention back to this girl. Very inappropriate plans began to form in his mind as he hovered closer, when he suddenly stopped.

"What the..." He said to himself. It felt as if someone had just walked across his grave. Actually it felt like someone had just stomped across his grave and kicked up some dirt for good measure.

He looked back to the hallway where his empty body still sat, then back to the cute brunette now walking away. "Priorities, Mike. Priorities." He scolded himself, and turned to go back down the hall. When he reached the end where the storage room was supposed to be, he stopped in confusion. Where was the door?

"Did I go the wrong way?" He questioned himself as he looked around. No, this was definitely the right hallway. "Where the fuck is the door?"

Janet began to step back as Mike began to approach her. "Alright, let's just... Just... What are you going to do to me?" She gasped slightly as her back bumped into the wall.

The thing in Mike smiled as he approached, before he suddenly stopped. He looked her up and down, then stared her in the eyes with that piercing purple gaze. "Nothing." The thing in Mike shrugged, before turning around to walk back to the desk.

"Oh." Janet replied, sounding almost disappointed.

"Nothing you won't like, at least." Mike purred as he turned the metal chair away from the old desk and lazily sat back down. He suddenly stared past Janet at the wall that had replaced the door and his brow furrowed. "And what I'd like Janet, is a bit more time in this body." His eyes met hers and he smirked. "And maybe a little more time with you."

Janet gulped. "What are you... Is Mike okay?"

The thing in Mike's body waved his hand dismissively. "He'll be fine. However..." The thing in Mike looked down at the fluttering pages of the magical book and the pages suddenly came to a stop. "I think I might need to keep him a little distracted for a minute."

Mike's possessed body once again read out a series of strange words Janet could not comprehend, and five familiar looking glowing purple lights darted out from the pages and flew towards her. "Woah!" She tried to step back and once again found herself pressed against the wall. The orbs flew right at her, but at the last moment arced up and flew into the ventilation grate seated into the wall above her head.

Janet let out a small involuntary sigh of relief, but then she heard the thing in Mike continue to utter more strange magical phrases. As she watched the pages of the book begin to once again flutter, something told her things were about to get a whole lot crazier.

Mike stood (or floated, it was hard to tell exactly) in front of the wall where the door to the storage room was supposed to be. Had he done this somehow? Maybe when he was messing with the book? No, that did not make any sense.

He tried floating up to the wall to maybe phase through the bricks or something, but it seemed the surface was just as solid as it would have been had he not been in this strange ghostly form. He stood there for a moment thinking, when an idea sprung into his head. "The air vent! That should work."

As if his voice had summoned it, he suddenly started to hear some low humming and tiny noises that almost sounded like giggling coming from behind him. Turning around, he looked up at a ventilation grate sat into the wall near the ceiling and noticed a purple glow slowly getting brighter. Before he could properly react, five purple lights suddenly darted out of the vent and flew down in front of his ghostly form.

After a moment of surprise, Mike recognized them as the same strange magical forms he had summoned to to fly up Janet's dress after he had discovered the book. "Hey! What are you doing out here?" Mike demanded, although he was not really sure if they could understand him.

"We were summoned."

"We Were called."

"To have some fun."

"With you all."

"What they said."

The five orbs all spoke in tiny endogenous voices as they hovered up and down in front of him. "Wait, you can talk?" Mike asked. They also seemed to emanate a low hum that he could not hear before too. Was it because of this weird 'astral form' he was in?

Instead of answering, the tiny glowing lights laughed and flew off down the hallway back to the library. "Wait, no, shit!" Mike cursed as he flew after them. Whatever was going on, Mike did not think it was a good idea to have a bunch of weird magical lights running around in the library. At least it was not a good idea when he had not summoned them. As he stood there wondering what to do, he heard a woman gasp from behind one of the shelves to his right.

"Damn it." He cursed, flying off towards the noise. What the hell were they trying to do?
