Open Phone Lines !

The girls all got their chance to say a few words on This Morning but as expected, it was Debbi who dominated the conversation with the all female panel. The panel all knew Debbi well by now and were fully supportive of the project. All went well until they decided to open the phone lines to the public. Shirley from Dagenham came on the line. "This is all a big con. You talk about having respect for all body types but look at you. You're all beautiful. Why didn't you get anyone fat and ugly to pose ?" They had thought of covering several bases with different ethnic types but it was inevitable that someone would find reason to complain.

There was an awkward silence and then Debbi took up the gauntlet. "Now you're asking me to be judgemental aren't you ? What do you expect me to do ? Go up to someone in the street and say, we're looking for fat and ugly models for a photoshoot and thought you'd be ideal ? We want everyone to respect and be comfortable with their body but we want people to have healthy bodies. There's no good being anorexic or obese. Just don't worry about every blemish or hint of cellulite !"

The next caller came on. Harriet from Cheltenham. "God made us all to have body hair. Why are you women all shaven in your photographs. This is pandering to male fantasy and the pornography industry." Again it was left to Debbi to respond. "In normal life, nobody is any the wiser about whether a person is shaved or 'au naturel' We just happened to choose to go public and didn't give that aspect much thought. It's a fashion choice like a hairstyle or a frock. We're not fanatics, we just want to promote a healthy outlook." Lesley cut in. "OK girls, why don't we all grow our pubes for six weeks and then have another group photo taken full frontal ?"

There was general approval, apart from Sally. "Oh come on Sal, who cares if the drapes don't match the carpet ? You're not the only bottle blonde in the world !" urged Debbi. There was general laughter and a blushing Sally agreed to also partake. "We'll have you all back on the show in a couple of months" said the hostess. "But now, in a first for This Morning, Suki is going to play us out with a beautiful Chopin nocturne !"
