Your mom’s arrival.

You wait at the commercial landing pad. Looking up into the sky you eventually see a bird coming your way. Your mom lands in front of you on the back of a Skarmory. Your mom recalls the bird and hands the ball to the worker. You run over to hug her, your arms wrap around each other.

“I’ve missed you,” you tell her, still hugging your mom.

“I’ve missed you too,” she responds back.

You walk back to a picnic spot you had found on route 6 just outside of town. You set up the picnic while letting your team run free. Your mom also pulls out a pokeball, releasing a Vespiqueen. “Is that my pokemon?” you ask, knowing that your mom had started caring for your boxed pokemon.

“Yea, she’s started a big hive back home, Pallet Town is infested with busy body Combee. I thought she could use a break too.”

Your mom watches as they play, except for Gloom who sunbathes. Tingle teases Carvanah by lowering himself and then climbing up out of reach when Carvanah jumps. Wartortle shoots rings of water that Runt jumps through with grace. And Ekans takes it upon himself to gather berries, bringing them back to your mom. “Thank you so much,” she says each time he returns with another berry. Vespiqueen buzzes around collecting flowers for you.

You tell your mom about your adventures. “How are you doing with the more sexual parts of being a trainer?” your mom eventually asks.

“I, um it’s fine,” you tell her. You had avoided telling your mom about any of your losses.

“You just never talk about it, and while I want to believe you’re the best trainer, I have to assume you’ve lost some,” your mom sounds so sincere.

You pause, of course your mom knows about that part of it, she used to be a trainer after all. “Yea, I’ve had some losses. But it really hasn’t been that bad.”

“And what about this?” she asks, grabbing the sleeve of your shirt and pulling it up to reveal your tattoo.

“That was from Blue,” you answer honestly.

“Oh thank god,” your mom seems relieved, and you give her a puzzled look. “Oh no, I just mean I was worried you had embraced losing, I knew a couple girls back in the day who got addicted to being used and started skipping the battling altogether. But if it’s just because of that devil child, I really should’ve moved you away from him, but without your dad around I just couldn’t afford the moving expenses.”

You rub your mom’s back comforting her, “It’s okay I can handle Blue Oak.” You’re not always confident in your ability to handle him, but now’s not the time to tell your mom that.

It feels great being around your mom again. You still talked to her regularly but you miss her hugs, her back rubs, or even just her smell. You fill her in on some of your sexual exploits since she asked, but you still opt out of telling her everything. She doesn’t need to know about Black Jack whoring you out or sucking off the Mart Man in Viridian City.
