Chapter 6

Last time on Stuck on Another World

Kara directed her anger in her heat vision and began to break out Barry.

"We had a deal!" One of the Dominators said in anger.

"Kara?" Barry asked.

"Yeah Barry, I'm here." Kara began, "Let's get you out of this thing, tell me how to safely extract you from it."

"No." Barry said while shaking his head.

Kara stopped tinkering at the machine and asked, "What do you mean 'no'? Don't you want to live your life on Earth?"

"I mean no, don't rescue me." Barry said with a frown.

"WHY?!" Kara said as she punched a Dominator, "You have so much to live for." She reasoned to him.

"I have NOTHING to live for! I lost you, I lost my Mom, I lost my Dad! Don't you see it Kara? I have nothing!" Barry weakly yelled at her.

"Leave now while you still can, we can still do our part of our deal if you leave now." The Dominator said to them.

"Not without Barry." Kara and Oliver said in unison.

Oliver fired an EMP arrow while Kara used her heat vision to free him.

The EMP helped shutting down the defense mechanism while the heat vision is cutting the capsule.

Barry's body fell down the capsule the moment it opened. He was **** because of the constant pain and crying.

"Everybody, let's go." Oliver said as he threw a smoke bomb.

"How are we going to bring him back to the Waverider? Even with superspeed, you will get there in seconds but not fast enough to keep the atmosphere from killing Barry." Cisco said while recalling his calculations.

"A life for a life…" Kara trailed off as she holds the mask and takes it off.

Kara gave her mask to Barry and wore it to him.

"Kara! What are you doing?!" Lucy exclaimed.

"Save him, while you still can. I'll hold off the Dominators." Kara told them.

"Not a chance." Mon-El said as he took off his mask and placed it on Kara, "We are almost at the same strength level, I can hold them off while you go with Barry."

Kara nodded her head then proceeded to pick up Barry and flew him into the Waverider with Team Arrow and Legends following them.

The Hall of Justice

Barry woke up in the Hall of Justice with a very concerned Kara staring at him. Barry looked around and noticed that Mon-El wasn't there. And he immediately knew why: Mon-El had sacrificed himself to keep Kara alive and by association, Barry as well.

A look that can only be described as a mix of fear, guilt and self-loathing crossed Barry's face. He knew that he just cost Kara her current boyfriend, and that explained the fear on his face as he refused to look Kara in the eyes. He felt guilty about having caused Mon-El's sacrifice. And he hated himself because he underestimated Zoom and by doing so it had cost him, his father's life! He thought by sacrificing himself for Kara, that he could make up for his mistake…

"He's awake!" Caitlin yelled, noticing the change in his breathing and heartbeat.

"," Barry just laid there on the bed, saying nothing. The fear, guilt and self-loathing was eating him up.

Kara entered the Medbay to find Barry mourning and brooding while Caitlin is checking on his results and making sure that he is okay to go home then left the Medbay.

"I'm sorry, Mon-El." Barry muttered to himself.

"Hey, don't blame yourself. He made the decision to save me. He was a hero..." Kara trailed off while reasoning with Barry.

"I'm sorry, Kara that I did that. I just-I just thought that if I could save one person it could make-up for my mistake." Barry explained to her.

"It's fine and now let's just learn from our mistakes. Why did you say you have nothing to live for? You have a family here." Kara asked.

"Kara," Barry began, "You don't understand, I underestimated Zoom and it cost me my father's life! And I have to live with that mistake." Barry said, darkly.

"You used to be upbeat and happy, Barry. Don't become Oliver and go down that dark path." Kara said while reaching out to comfort him.

"Zoom broke me." Barry said simply, looking away from her.

"But that doesn't mean that you can't be fixed." Kara said while caressing his hands.

"Why?" Barry asked, "Why do you care so much about me? I just cost you, your boyfriend's life…" Barry trailed off.

"Because I am trying to move on and live my life, not brooding and blaming myself for his ****." Kara told the scarlet speedster.

"You know, I-" Barry began, "I almost broke the timeline to bring my parents back but do you wanna know what stopped me?" Barry asked Kara.

Kara nodded her head and decided to listen to him.

"It was my feelings and memories of you." Barry said simply.

"Really?" Kara asked him, wide-eyed.

"Yeah, because I know that you wouldn't want me to do that, and the last thing I wanted was to disappoint you." Barry commented.

"Yeah, we aren't sure what will happen if you change the past." Kara commented also.

Winn ran inside the Medbay, catching his breath.

"A scout ship of the Dominators is floating above Central City." Winn informed the two.

Barry got off the bed in the medbay and walked out to where his team was.

"What's the plan, team leader?" Oliver asked him with a smirk.

"Does the Waverider have any weapons on board?" Barry asked.

"Of course, Mr. Allen, you built it at the same time as Gideon." Rip said to him.

"We could use the Waverider to attack them from the air." Barry suggested.

"How are we going to take down the ships, they have quite a few defensive weapons and shields." Kara informed him.

"We need to somehow get a board one of their ships and infiltrate it." Barry said. "I don't know how we're going to do that, I'm open to suggestions." Barry replied.

"Barry? Do you remember what you did when you had a bomb on your wrist?" Cisco asked with a smirk.

"Yeah, I phased through it." Barry recounted.

"And you can do the same here." Cisco said with a smile.

"So, we use the Waverider to get up there and then I can phase into one of the ships?" Barry asked Cisco.

"Yeah, but you need someone else to come with you to take down the ship." Cisco said to him.

"Kara's the only one strong enough to help me." Barry commented with a smile.

"Why are you smiling in a Crisis?" Oliver asked him with a frown.

"Because I've seen her lift up a concrete slab and throw it at somebody." Barry replied.

"And lift up an alien prison that weighs 10,000 tons and fly it straight into space." Winn commented also.

"Okay, let's do it." Barry said.

Waverider

"Nervous?" Barry asked Kara while fiddling with his emblem.

"A little." Kara told Barry, "Let's end this." she said.

"Do you think I should continue this after the invasion is done?" Barry asked her.

"What do you mean?" Kara asked, confused.

"Being a hero, my first year of being The Flash, two people who are close to me have lost their lives to save the world. In my second year, my dad and your boyfriend died. What if I just stopped being The Flash to stop the deaths of someone that is close to me?" Barry asked the blonde Kryptonian.

"Barry…" Kara began, "Eobard decided to put people in harm's way by making the particle accelerator go off." Kara told Barry.

"But I made the time portal that killed them both!" Barry reasoned to her.

"Well, people die everyday so even if you weren't The Flash…" She trailed off.

"You don't get it, Kara. A year ago, Eobard told me that I could save my Mom from dying and he can go back to the future, after talking about it with my loved ones, I chose to go back in time and save her and put Reverse-Flash in a time capsule. We opened a Time Breach and then…" Barry choked up while crying, "I'm sorry, I can't."

"So, what would you do if you weren't The Flash? Travel the multiverse looking for somebody to fill the void in your heart?" Kara asked him.

"Yeah, I can find my own Kara while travelling the multiverse." Barry said with a sad smile.

"Barry I-" Kara began, "Even when I was with Mon-El, I never stopped loving you, I just want you to know that." Kara said with a sad smile.

"I know but I also know that you're not ready yet but I can't wait forever." Barry told her.

"Barry, do you think Central City, Cisco and Caitlin will get along fine without you?" Kara asked seriously.

"Of course they will, they were happy before I barged in on their lives. It will just be like before they even met me." Barry told her.

"You know, I think if you really want a fresh start after this, you should move to another Earth. Either Earth-38 or Earth-2." Kara commented.

"I have so many memories at either one of those Earth's, if I really want a fresh start, I need to start from scratch." Barry told her.

"Enough chit-chat, Barry." Kara said with a grin, "Let's go save the world, together, one last time." She told her friend.

"Don't say that Girl of Steel, you don't know, I might change my mind." Barry teased her.

Kara grabbed Barry and gave him a peck on the lips and said, "For luck."

"You moved on pretty quick, Kara." Barry teased her.

"I just wanted to give you the goodbye kiss that you couldn't give me three months ago when Mon-El was still here." Kara commented with a grin.

"That's-That's Zoom's fault." Barry told her quickly.

"Let's go Barry." Kara said with a wink.

Barry grabbed onto Kara and told her to be ready to fly once they phased out of the Waverider…
