Kitty's First Patrol

When Kitty finished reading the book, there was almost two hours left on the clock. The book didn't impart anything new but solidified the information already in her mind. It was basically a guide about how she could accomplish her tasks.

She would also be assigned patrol areas to look for marked souls. The areas are assigned by Azrael as well as the times she must remain in the mortal world and her countdown only specified the time and location that she must be in the mortal world to receive an assignment, bot necessarily a kill order.

Kitty decided to spend the remaining time searching through the Reaper System Store. With enough points she could gain new skills, both mundane and reaper related, and upgrade her house. There were only so many things she could buy right now and that's not taking into account her lack of points. Her domain was not big enough for many of the expensive items. The size could only increase through the use of Reaper Points, 100 at first for a small expansion with the point and size totals increasing exponentially.

The items she she saw in the store simply boggled the mind, some coming from science fiction or fantasy, most coming from the real world. She could even grow crops and purchase willing souls from purgatory to manage her fields, not that it interested her. The possibilities seemed endless. From the Reapers Handbook she knew that some reapers were responsible for certain inventions or discoveries. They couldn't produce them in the real world themselves, so there is a skill that can introduce ideas into a persons mind while sleeping. They of course had to obtain permission from a higher authority first first.

A few minutes before the end of the countdown Kitty opened a portal and stepped through, walking into a crowd of people on a busy sidewalk. There were buildings all around her with lit up signs written in Japanese. Nobody seemed to notice her at all, in fact they all seemed to move around her.

Looking at her HUD she discovered five settings. The first one was Invisible, this is the one she would use for complete stealth. Then there was Imperceptible, it is similar to invisible, but people don't notice her when she performs her duties and would usually move around her like now. There's Filtered Perception that let's her interact with the living without them noticing the fact that she's a reaper and lacks a proper wardrobe, seeing what they expect to see. Partially Exposed lets people see what she is really wearing, minus the scythe and any special effects her accessories might display. Finally there is Fully Exposed, people would see Kitty in all her glory, wearing her disturbing hooded cowl and carrying a scythe. There's actually a block on that setting that requires authorization. She was currently Imperceptible.

When the countdown reached zero, instructions appeared in her HUD.

You will patrol Tokyo for the foreseeable future. You are not to cross the borders of the region without permission for any reason. Any marked souls you come across may be collected. You may not return to your domain until instructed.

Now that she received her instructions, she could focus on her immediate concerns. She was getting aroused from all the clothed people walking past, even if they couldn't see her. And she was hungry. Just because she didn't need to eat, didn't mean she felt hunger any less.
