Figuring things out

You spend the next couple hours invisible in the department store observing Lucy and the security guard **** Morgan. You had considered using your mind control ring to intervene and get them to let Morgan go, but your curiosity about how this happened gets the better of you. You watch the security guard and the cuckold, at his wife's nagging, have their way with Morgan, but you just can't figure out why Lucy and the guard are behaving like this. It's neither what you had commanded them to do, nor do you suspect it's something they would do themselves normally.

When you notice the sun coming up outside, you decide that you've seen enough and you teleport away. You don't return to the estate, but instead you go to Olivia's mansion which you haven't visited in a while even though you've been spending your time just down the road. It's quiet in the morning and you go upstairs, first checking your bedroom, which is untouched, before you go to Olivia's room. Since coming into possession of the magic rings, you haven't used your mind control powers too excessively, but Olivia was the first person you really did it to.

Olivia is not in her room and her bed doesn't look like it has been slept in recently, so you head over to Margot's room. The Australian actress is not there either, although there's a note on her pillow that's addressed to you. It turns out that she got a supporting role in some foreign movie and left for a shoot in Japan 2 days ago. She says she'll be back in 2 weeks.

For the next few hours, you hang out in the mansion, waiting for Olivia to show up, but she never does. When you try calling her, the phone goes straight to voicemail. A little worried, you check online for any news of her but there's nothing. As noon approaches, you're getting nervous and so you decide you need some help finding Olivia.

After changing into new clothes, you teleport downtown to a police station and walk in, going straight to the duty officer at the front desk. Normally, you would use your mind control ring to speed things up, but you decide to exercise some caution with that ring for now and just be a normal person. If you need to, you can always use the ring.

"Yes?" the duty officer asks. He's in his mid 40s, has a bushy mustache, and looks too overweight to be a cop.

"Hi officer," you say, "I'm um... my friend is missing and I don't know what to do."

"Has it been 48 hours?"

"Yes," you reply, although you have no idea when the last time Olivia was seen.

"Name?"

"Olivia Pinke," you say, spelling it out for the officer. He grunts and types into a computer on his desk, squinting as he stares at the screen.

He nods after a while. "She's not missing. She's in lock up, waiting hearing before a judge."

You're surprised to hear that. "What?! What happened??"

"Arrested for indecent exposure. Apparently she was having sex with some man in central park, right by a playground."

"That can't be true. That doesn't sound like her at all, officer. Can I see her?" you ask.

"Not unless you're her attorney. She's not here anyway. Courts are a little backed up so she's being held at county until she can appear before a judge. That's all I've got," the officer says, looking up from his computer. "Next!" he says, waving on the person behind you. Stunned, you step aside and try to process what you've heard. None of this sounds like anything Olivia would do normally or under your mind control.
