Chapter 41 by ThomasMoro

What happens next?

Sunset

Jane Harker had just gotten up after a long afternoon nap in which she wore nothing but a black leather collar around her neck and a rag in her womanhood. As Jane adjusted herself to being awake, she started staring at the strange objects that had been left for her the night before by the mysterious blonde-haired stranger who looked like Sarah.

She was still staring at them when Sarah came into the room.

"Time to wake up, Jan -- What the hell!" cried Sarah. "Where did you get those things from?"

"Er, you gave them to me," said Jane.

"No, I didn't," said Sarah. "Now where did you get them from?"

"I just told you, Sarah," said Jane. "You gave them to me. You showed up in a big blue box marked 'Police' and then you placed these two items in front of me."

"I sincerely doubt that I did anything like that," said Sarah. "For one thing, I don't own anything that looks like a big blue box. Nor does the Master. So where did you really get that crucifix and that pointed stick?"

"I just told you," said Jane. "You ga--"

"Gave them to you," said Sarah. "Yes, so you've told me. Well, I don't know who really gave you those objects but it wasn't me."

"But it looked like you," said Jane.

"Well, it wasn't," said Sarah. "Now throw them away."

"Why should I do that?" asked Jane.

"Why shouldn't you?" asked Sarah. "After all, I just gave you an order. And you knows what happens to you when you disobey an order."

"But you gave these two things to me," said Jane. "How do I know I won't get into trouble if I throw them away?"

"Because I'm telling you to," said Sarah.

Jane sat and thought a moment. A moment that worried Sarah a bit since it was fairly obvious by now that thinking was not Jane's strong point.

Then Jane said, "I have an idea. Since you no longer want me to have these items, why don't you take them away from me?"

"Because --" Sarah started to say.

Then stopped.

"Because I told you to throw them away," Sarah finally said.

Jane stared into space for a moment, then said, "Hey, I know. Why don't I just hand them over to you?"

"Er, why don't you not do that?" asked Sarah.

Jane reached out for the crucifix and started to hand it to Sarah, only to pause in puzzlement when Sarah immediately backed away from the crucifix.

"Is something wrong?" asked Jane.

"Er, no," said Sarah with an unexpectedly shaky tone in her voice. "What makes you ask that?"

"Oh, no reason," said Jane.

And again, Jane tried to hand the crucifix to Sarah, only to see her immediately back away.

Hmm, thought Jane. There is definitely something funny going on here, but I can't figure out what it is.
