Jaunie and Gia Get To Work

Spenser's Topics was a strange niche mall store. Its fashions were hoodies, graphics tees and tank of classic Disney Characters, Anime’s, and assorted genre shows and movies. Its almost cluttered floor space complemented these items with nick nacks, minifigs, patches and assorted punk and goth styled accessories.

But all those items formed merely a horseshoe shaped area of the store around the back to back cashier’s counter occupying a square in the center of the store, behind it the assorted peircings display cases.

Behind a stepped out portion of wall at the back center were two change rooms, and a small area for piercing ears and belly buttons. Although most people preferred to go some where more special8zed like the few tattoo parlours in town.

Something Gia always discreetly recommended.

Jaunie was on the opening shift, scrambling about the store topping off and straightening chaotic stock displays, all while infusing objects with every bit of corruptive energy she had retained from the party the night before.

If she had been Gia the manager might’ve asked about the time spent doing this, but Jaunie kept her head down and was a reliable worker. Her manager thought she was above reproach or concern.

As 10am came to pass the rolling gate to the store was ushered out of sight, its unwelcoming cage like appearance banished in favour of a more welcoming open entrance. A thought that amused Jaunie who despite looking rather plain felt a lot more open and welcoming herself after the night before.

As the weekday traffic slowly trickled through Jaunie knew she was in for a slow slog. The main audience for the store wasn’t likely to really start appearing until after 4.

The strawberry blonde fiddled about the store offering a hand every which way, eager for 2pm when Gia would be in to join her.
