Dr. Sapphire

You whip your head around and see Dr. Sapphire enter the room, her imperious strut unworried by the threat of two superheroes of intruding in her lair. She looks as described, a moderately attractive middle aged women but nothing special. You move to take her down but she tuts,

"Ah ah ah. Don't move any closer. If you touch a hair on my head the lab will lock down and you both will be exposed to a neurotoxin of my own design. And we wouldn't want that, would we?"

You pause, wracking your mind for a potential solution to this problem. You need more time. You decide to take a play from the old hero playbook. Get them monologuing.

"So why are you doing this, Dr. Sapphire?"

"Well, whoever you are, I am a benevolent goddess. I want what's best for the human race. And what's best for the human race is a focused and driven group of people working together to face a common goal. With my two chemicals I will accomplish this in one stroke. When the entire male population is exposed to chemical Y it will be treated as a tragedy. The remaining women will be **** to band together to figure out a cure for the men. Then, I will slowly introduce chemical W into the population. While this increases the chance that women will be able to find an antidote, it won't take too long for women to not even want men to return. From there, it will take no time at all for the newfound goddesses to determine a way to create artificial sperm, and mankind will become womankind permanently," Dr. Sapphire states with a fearsome gleam in her eyes.

Thankfully, during this speech you glanced over to Zatanna and mouthed if she could deal with this, and she responded with a slight nod of her head. She just had to wait for a chance, and the finish of Dr. Sapphire's declaration of her plans it had arrived.

"Nuts m-"

Before Zatanna can finish her spell, a large flash goes off, blinding you temporarily before your enhanced eyes adjust. To your horror, Zatanna is lying on the ground, ****. Speechless, you turn to look at Dr. Sapphire in shock.

"Cloaked voice-activated flash bang stun grenade. Once I saw that she had infiltrated my glorious facility I calibrated the device to her voice and to activate when I enter the room. After that, it was only a matter of time before she spoke in my presence and boom, she's no longer a threat. You however, I do not know. However, I figure that chemical Y will deal with you well enough"

With that, Dr. Sapphire snaps her fingers and two gases begin to flow into the large room from a variety of vents. You rush towards her to take her down, but you're too late. Chemical Y has entered your system, and you learn quickly that it's fast acting. You collapse, and you feel your consciousness fade away.
