Back to the Medical Wing

Blake panted as he felt Daria go limp in is arms. She was not the only thing limpening, and for a moment he thought she was merely as exhausted as he, however when she did not move when roused, he knew something was up.

He quickly got up and set to work, cleaning himself up, pulling on his clothes and clothing her as best he could. He was somewhat lucky that he had taken her shirt off earlier, so her presentation was fairly respectable. He was slightly less fortunate, there were a few notable tousles in his mane from where she had held onto him. His ordinarily neat braiding slightly askew. Still, it could have been worse.

He tenderly picked up the **** Doe. While he wanted to get to the medical wing asap, he knew now he had time to be careful. In any case, as he exited into the corridor, he realised the journey was going to take far longer than the last time. The last lunch period was ending and the halls were packed with students. On any normal day this would make carrying something difficult, let alone when that something was a full grown fallow deer. And the there was the opportunistic hands flying around. Sure, no one would be exercising any major privileges here, it would be far too cramped, but people would still happily grope around. While no hands would becoming his way, they could still block his path. All in all, it took him nearly ten minutes before he finally got to the medical wing.

He saw Doctor Armeccitti's stern gaze the moment he set foot across the threshold. As he lay Daria down on the bed she tutted disapprovingly. The adrenaline still fading from his system, Blake glared at her. There was an awkward silence between the two, before she spoke condescendingly, 'I did warn her that she should have volunteered for exemption. It simply isn't safe for her to lose consciousness and be left unattended.'

Blake was uncharacteristically irked by her voice. The Doctor had a reputation for being no nonsense and giving short shrift to idiocy. It was something Blake admired about her, and they usually got on very well. Over the years in fact, they had become really rather close. Today however, she was rubbing him up the wrong way and his response came through gritted teeth, 'She didn't get like this from the exercise of privileges and she wasn't left unattended. I brought her as quickly as I could.'

Armeccitti's eyes narrowed for a moment, her nostrils flaring. Blake could tell she was about to respond viciously, when he saw her eyes widen, she had made the connection. Her expression softened slightly, still giving her in an overall neutral look. She spoke calmly, but Blake could detect a hint emotion in her voice, 'You like her then?'

Blake shrugged, and sighed, 'I think I do... Yes.' He sat down beside the bed. 'I'd like you to keep it quiet.'

She nodded, ever the professional, 'Of course.' He was surprised as she sat down next to him, placing a hand on his back reassuringly. 'It's been a long time coming for you. I hope it's wonderful. 'He was caught of guard by her words. Her tone was matter of fact and blunt, but it came with an unmistakable catch in her voice.

'I hope so too.' He thought back, it shouldn't be like before. That was very different. No. This time he would do it properly. He reached out a hand and caressed the Doe's forehead.

Armeccitti patted him on the back and stood, 'I'll let her sister know.' She walked out of the room, drawing the curtains around the bed as she did so.

Blake stomach churned. Lexi was going to be an awkward conversation... Awkward indeed...
