Chapter 20 by Sloth013
What happens in the morning?
Well, it's technically morning...
A loud horn rouses you from your meditation in the middle of night. Looking around, you can see your allies waking, looking confused. "Is everyone all right?" You inquire, unsure of the situation. Suddenly you hear the horn again before a message appears before you all.

"That health bar must be overcompensating for something." You say. Ynn lets out a snort and the Fox girl giggles.
The goat boy turns to Thistle and asks, "What does he mean?"
"I'll tell you when your older." Thistle responds, getting a muffled laugh from the fox girl.
"Alright everyone. It seems we are apart of this world event. Prepare yourselves for danger, and **** as many heroes will no doubt be coming here for any rare loot that i will drop." You explain. "Be careful when up on the surface, and any sign of something off report directly to me. I will be setting up some spells to help prepare us for any more unwanted visitors." You explain. Your group nods before most go to sleep. You approach the Gnoll and Gorilla man and discuss a watch system, making sure someone is watching from the caves for any intruders or the shadow.
Once that is set, you head towards the main entrance and place a runic sequence at the first fork in the path, alerting you to anything that passes through it. It's hard to spot, looking like scratches in the wall, but a well learned eye could spot it and perhaps dismantle it. You continue to add two more such alert wards at similar intersections in the path, allowing you to known if someone is charging forward.
With that you return to your meditative state for a few hours. Your body is nit used to the change from sleep to meditation just yet, so you still require a few hours more of meditation unlike other Drow.
...
"Alright start by clearing a small tunnel and go over to the path up to the wall." You say to the elder Pebble Golem. You had just finished excavating the entrance way to the courtyard, and were making slow progress towards completion. You yourself had joined in with the pickaxe to help speed it along.
The plan was to do it in sections, that way you could successfully excavate the high ceilings of the cavern without experiencing similar problems to back when your lair was behind the waterfall. Speaking of which, you make a mental note to figure out where you wish to place the nymph's oasis. You have a thought for way down the line, but it will be years probably before you can successfully get to that point.
You open up your map and scan your territory, hoping for any idea to cross your mind. As you gaze, you notice something you overlooked the last time you had the map open. You quickly zoom in to the far east of your territory where a dark shape seems to barely enter the map.
Natural Resource detected:
(!) Magma Tube
"Huh. That's... concerning." You state. As you stare at the screen an idea starts to develop. "Yes. That might just work." You mutter before opening up the build menu.
You decide to add a trench to the front of your keep, 10 feet wide, and thirty feet down. You then add a ramp on the far side of the cavern down to the trench. Next you add an ornate stone bridge, traversing the trench, before finaly making a long tunnel to connect to the magma tube. The tunnel goes on the otherside as well to a small circular cavern that is round at the bottom to make a small lake, 30 feet deep. You make a small walkway and landing on the side of the cavern and connect it to the ramp.
Building materials required:
250 stone
Seeing as it wasn't a major addition to your current build, you accept the changes and get to work immediately on your own to complete this part of the build.
Excavation: Tool bonus, Skill penalty, Excavation speed: 8%
For the next few hours you construct the magma tube moat until the only thing left to do is connect the two together. You wipe the sweat from your brow, whether it's from your nerves, or the intense heat the rock is radiating, you are unsure. Finally after a few minutes, you muster up all the courage you could find and slam your pick into the side of the wall. When you pull it back out, the metal is red hot, and a small stream of magma is flowing from the hole.
"Phew. That wasn't so bad." You say wiping your brow once more. As you turn to leave, you hear a great cracking noise and swifty turn your head back towards the wall. A large spiderweb of cracks have formed around the hole you made. You tentatively take a few steps back before another large crack appears in the stone.
Suddenly, the rock explodes outward, stone shrapnel going everywhere. In a burst of speed you book it back down the tunnel, deciding to not to see if there was in fact molten rock chasing you.
As you make it up the ramp, you turn to see the magma not far behind. "Yazas!?" You hear. Turning towards the voice you see the kids as well as Thistle and the Gorilla man staring at you in shock.
"What?" You ask. Thistle points towards your shoulder, where a large chunk of stone is sticking out of your shoulder. "Oh." You say before falling to the ground. The adrenaline in your system had decided that you were no longer in mortal danger, allowing your legs to give out, and your shoulder to start going numb. You also feel something hot and damp running down your face and with your good arm you find that it is in fact your blood.
By now Thistle and the Otter Girl are at your side, trying to help you. Their voices seem kinda far away, and your vision is getting a bit blurry. With your remaining energy, you pull out one of the health potions. You go to take a sip, but your strength fails you, and you pass out.
Did you die!?
