Is she still standing?
Yes, unfortunately
You weren’t sure exactly how much health a level one hero had but it was more than 13 apparently. The ranger stumbled and cried out but didn’t fall. Instead, she spun around in alarm and struggled to pull her bow off her back. Damn. That was a good hit too. If you couldn’t even manage to take out a hero with a crit from behind you weren’t sure it was possible at all! You were sure this was it, that she would now pincussion you and go back on her way. However, she would instead surprise you by opening her mouth.
“Ow! Who the hell are you?!” The ranger shouted while unslinging her bow.
For a moment you didn’t understand... Never had a hero actually engaged you in conversation. It seemed an unspoken rule that you and your fellow thugs were enemies and not standard NPCs. This life was one of firsts to be sure. If you talked you might be able to convince her to show mercy... But she was also still rather close to you.
Will you respond? Or attack again?
You come into being as a low-level monster, the kind heroes chew through like popcorn. You know the drill, whether you're a player yourself or an artificial intelligence, and you're sick of it. You set out on your own quest: to defeat the heroes at any cost (or at least be an epic boss somewhere down the line).
