Things get worse

"So what am I going to do now?" asked Mina. "My dress is ripped to shreds and you just threw my pantaloons off the train. Now all I have on is my bra, my corset, my shoes, and my stockings."

"Don't worry about that, Mina," said Lucy. "We can get one of the maids to fetch you some new clothes very easily."

"But aren't they all asleep right now?" asked Mina.

"Yes," said Lucy. "But not for long. All we have to do is go back to the sleeping compartment and then -- Ow!"

"What is it?" asked Mina.

"That headache of mine -- it's come back," said Lucy. "And it's brought a friend."

"What can I do to help?" asked Mina, suddenly feeling very petty about having made such a fuss about her state of undress.

"Run," said Lucy.

"What?" asked Mina.

"I said, run!" cried Lucy. "Something's happening to me and I don't want you to be here when it's finished."

"Oh, Lucy," said Mina.

"I said, run, Mina," said Lucy. "Right now I feel very tempted to rip off the rest of your clothes and not in a good way. So run!"

Mina ran in the direction of Lucy's sleeping compartment while passing the scantily dressed young Chinese girl whom she had seen earlier. The Chinese girl looked at her, shrugged, and then walked over to Lucy, who seemed to be on all fours and staring at the floor of the corridor for some reason.

"Er, Joan Watson here," said the Chinese girl. "I just wanted to thank you and your friend for helping to distract that ferocious beast. For a minute there, I thought that the accursed creature was going to strip me naked. Thank goodness I don't have to worry about that anymore."

At that point, Lucy turned a hairy face in Joan's direction and said in a deep, dark voice, "That's what you think."
