The curse

Audrey and Mia slammed the door shut, in a barricade position. Mia turned around as they heard the principal behind them clear her throat. “Take a seat,” she said with a calm, soothing voice,“Audrey, I know a full year of this has taken a toll on you, but please put some clothes on. As for you, young...”

“Mia,” she cut her off. She smiled nervously. Miss Andrews glared at her and continued.

“I want to talk with you briefly. Audrey, you may leave, this time clothed...”

“With all due respect, Miss Andrews, I don’t think her appearance will matter.” This statement got the hot principal’s attention,“The same thing happened today as any other day in the past year, only at 1:00 and in class. I believe the curse has gotten worse to the point where she is naked every hour on the hour.”

Without removing eye contact with the interruptive Mia, she picked up the phone and called Janet to her office. And as if the Mighty, Mystical Janet hadn’t left the building, she popped in the room.

“What is the current length of the curse?” Asked Janet. How she knew the call was about the E.N.F. was as good a mystery as everything else she was.

Mia spoke up,“Hi. I’m helping her. It has gone from once a day at noon to every hour on the hour!”

“So I was right. It has grown. What is your name?”

“Mia”

“I need you to stay by her as much as you can. People work best in pairs.”

The quiet Audrey spoke up,“But what about the curse? What should I do? Do I see where the curse takes me, or should I keep redressing over and over and over again. I either live embarrassed and naked for life or never sleep again.”

Janet grinned,“It is your life and your therefore your decision.” This left Audrey standing, still nude, with a blank face. She didn’t know what to do but stutter. It now occurred to her that she wasn’t covering up for any of the meeting.
