Those stats are real..

Skyler was certain that only his glasses upon his face, his phone in hand, and boxers covering his privates were the only items he currently had equip. There was no reason to check them out. However, his stats were a different story. Sure, they were likely unimpressive, but it wouldn't hurt to know what they were. It would be difficult to know what to improve without looking first at any rate. He cringed slightly as he looked down at the stats, it was comprehensive and had a listed as follows.

Skyler's hand gently caressed Cleo's back while he read his stats. His eyes glanced up to the upper left corner and noticed his name, title, and just below that was his experience bar. When his eyes glanced to the lower right corner, he caught a glimpse of how much money he currently had.

Skyler's eyes widened as he unlocked his phone to check his bank account. Sure enough, the money total was accurate if he added both his checking and savings accounts together. He noticed a red exclamation mark with a circle around it, near each of the stats. He blinked and thought. 'I wonder what these stats mean exactly.' However, when he thought this a notification popped up and a new red exclamation mark flashed that he allowed to pop up.

Wisdom affects mana, mana regen, and manipulation of information already known.

Agility affects movement speed, chance to dodge, aiming accuracy, and modifies ranged/thrown weapon damage.

Charisma affects social skills, seduction, persuasion, and looks.

Libido affects desire and pleasure received. (Desire modified oppositely by Wisdom)

Once Skyler read all of this new information, he shook his head and said to himself. "Ugh, this is giving me a headache." Cleo meowed softly, she stretched before hopping down onto the floor and looked at the door, meowing again before looking to him. He sighed softly and said. "Bored of the bathroom already?" He knelt down to scratch the top of her head before opening the door to let her out. After closing the door once again, he looked back to his character sheet. He looked down slightly, recognizing the layout for an inventory.

However, Skyler noticed something odd about it. Unlike most video games where you might find a few recovery items, there was an odd item listed as, Gift box. He lifted a brow and thought. 'This isn't a jack in the box is it? Seriously, I don't like pranks.' When he put his phone down on the counter, a new notification popped up. Shortly after, two red exclamations flashed that he allowed to pop up.

Skyler glared at the notifications and thought. 'Please don't let it be clothing.' He let out a trembling breath as he looked at the inventory screen. It wasn't clear how he would be able to retrieve this item from a 2-D interface. If it worked like everything else, it should be fairly simple. So, why not just reach in to grab it? Hmm, he could use a mental command. That would likely be easier to work with. Hell, he didn't even know how big this, Gift box was. Would it even be safe to take it out in here? He looked around at the small, but functional 5' by 8' bathroom with a walk in shower.

Skyler shrugged, figuring it couldn't be that big, right? He reached into his inventory and felt his hand touch something. He ran his hand along its edge. His fingers sent back the indication that it was mostly smooth, reminding him of cardboard. Hmm, it certainly seemed like a box to him. At the very least, that is what it felt like. He pulled it out slowly, revealing white box with a blue bow on it, its dimensions were approximately the size of standard letter sized, paper and half an inch deep.

Skyler wasn't sure of what this could be. It could be a shirt, shorts, or even a stack of papers. Hmm, it was fairly light, so it wasn't a stack of papers at least. He took off the bow before removing the top, revealing two magazines inside. The first magazine had a monk in a combat stance on the cover, clad in a grey shaolin monk robe. Whereas the second was another monk, sitting in simple meditation. He touched the first magazine and received the following pop up.

Way of the Monk: When learned will teach the following skills.

Stunning Strike lvl 1

Cost: 15 Mp

Focuses chi throughout your body, causing your next strike to deal 150% of normal damage.

This strike has a 50% chance to shock the target's nervous system, stunning the target for 2 seconds.

Iron Fist lvl 1

Cost: 25 Mp

Focuses chi into your next punch, causing an additional 250% of normal damage.

Requires 15 Strength, 10 Endurance, 15 Agility, and 20 Wisdom.

Skyler lifted a hand to his forehead and said. "Well, that figures." He looked at the second magazine before touching it and received the following notification.

Meditation, Achieving Inner Peace: When learned will teach the following skills.

Meditation lvl 1 - Channeled - (Linked with Inner Focus)

Upon achieving a clear mind, your Hp and Mp will regenerate more quickly.

Increases Hp and Mp regen by 300% while channeling.

Grants immunity to all versions of poison and disease.

Increases health regeneration by .1% of maximum Hp per minute.

Skyler smiled weakly as tears filled his eyes. He could feel the pain of depression wash over him, clouding his judgement. After a moment, he shook his head while keeping those tears back and said. "Thanks for that, Gaia. You've reminded me of just how pitiful I am. I can't even make use of your gift." He put the lid back onto the Gift box before putting it back into his inventory, closing it as a new notification popped up and a new red exclamation flashed that he allowed to pop up.

Skyler's breath trembled as those tears began to well up again, but he brushed away those pop ups before deciding to use the restroom, washing his hands after before picking up his phone and heading towards the kitchen. He just needed to continue life like normal. Things wouldn't get any worse, right?
