Chapter 137 by Fiftyfiftyfifty Fiftyfiftyfifty

What do you do?

Get ready to leave.

"I'm afraid I must ask you to depart, however," the archmage explains as you return to the office. "I am a busy man, and this isn't a hotel." He eyes over your dripping wet companions, and makes his way across the room to approach them. He clears his throat and raises a hand up into the air, and his next words boom from his throat, louder than you expect. "Command Water!"

Ribbons of liquid flow out from your clothing as well as from the members of your party's, and they coalesce into a rippling sphere of water, hovering above the old man's finger tips. You feel much more comfortable now that you've dried off.

"I'm sure we'll meet again," he says as he rubs his other hand down through his beard.

Amara looks down over herself, and then bows her head. "Thank you very much, Lord Barkis."

The rest of you say your goodbyes, and Reko escorts you back down the grand staircase, wrapping around the cylindrical building, down to the main hall once again. She smiles and waves as you depart. Once the doors closed, you're left with your party once again beneath the hot sun above. There's much to the day left, so you should be able to make quick progress back to town if you leave soon.

You take a deep breath and look over your sword. Across the many details, there's one you mistook for just a design--an inscription written in Elvish, and in such an artistic manner it hardly looked like words at first.

Maybe Barkis noticed, but he assumed I knew what it said already. We do have an elf in our party.

Before you leave, you hold the weapon towards Amara. "Do you see this writing here? What does it say?"

She leans in close to inspect it. "It's a name. Roughly translated, it says... Sharp and Quick, a Blade Called Lauo. The last word is the name, so it's written differently, but it uses an Elvish word that means a few different things. I assume it's using the usage for heat? That would make the most sense for a magic sword."

I feel like I've been given a pervert sword. This isn't sacred at all.

"Well, Lauo sounds cool to me," you say, and slide it into its temporary scabbard. "We did it. Dungeon complete. I was hoping we'd get more treasure than we did, but I figure we'll make a decent amount selling what we did find."

Eva pouts. "I wanted a magic wand. Why do you get the magic item?"

"You don't even use a sword."

"I can learn!"

What do you do?
