Lisa awoke shortly after the break of dawn. Her crotch pained her greatly, but she knew she had to get up. Pushing herself to her feet, she unlocked the door and left the room. The five criminals were all asleep, and as she made her way through the door and down the hallway, she found the sheriff sitting at his desk. He was speaking with another deputy.

“What’s the situation with the Natives?” the sheriff asked.

“We’re not doing good, but they aren’t either.” The deputy replied. “We’ve held our ground, though they heavily outnumber us. Is there anyone else you can send?”

“With the situation Deadneck’s in, I’m already straining it.” The sheriff replied. “I’ll send anyone if I can though. You are dismissed.”

The deputy nodded and left.

Lisa entered.

“Morning, deputy.” The sheriff said, “Ready to work?”

Lisa nodded. “What do you have for me?”

“Well, after yesterday, I figured you might want a break, so, I’ll give you a choice between two jobs. You see, there seems to be a problem at one of the whorehouses, and I’ve sent two of my men to investigate, but I want to send another to be safe, so you can help the deputies if you want, or, I can go help the deputies and you stay here and watch the prisoners. It’s your choice.”
