Travel into the wild.

With a bedroll over each of your backs, and pouches/packs filled with basic supplies, your party heads out the southern gate and begin following the road. It isn't long before you have to split away, however. The road is soon behind you as the four of you continue off into the field. It gradually disappears into the distance, along with the city, and you march, and it starts to hit you just how little of this land you've seen.

As you walk, you spot a small blue slime stare back at you with little beady eyes, but it starts hopping away.

"Some monsters won't bother messing with a party," Niki explains. "Too risky. At least, when they're alone."

Fortunately for you, the closer you are to the city, the fewer monsters there are. Unfortunately for you, the location you're travelling towards is a distance away. For now, you hardly see more than the odd slime or goblin as your party continues onwards, and after an entire day of walking with occasional breaks to rest passes by, the sun starts to set, and you decide it's best to set up camp.

Niki builds a small fire pit as the rest of you roll out the bedrolls. She rubs sticks together until the friction ignites the wood aflame. Soon, your party has a warm, illuminating fire to sit around while you eat your dinner of mostly dried meat and canteen water--not the most illustrious meal.

You start to discuss a watch order for tonight, just in case.

"So who wants to stay up a bit later and take first watch?" you ask.

Eva raises her hand. "Me!" She seems strangely insistent.

"Uh all right. I'll get up early and take last watch. Niki, you're after me, and then comes Amara. How does that sound?"

The others agree.

"Great," you continue. "Keep your eyes open. It creeps me out that there's just monsters lurking around everywhere out there..."

"You get used to it," Niki says.

"Do you think things are watching us right now?" Eva asks quietly.

"Oh probably," replies Niki. "Maybe even some kind of terrible monster!"

One by one, the girls start to prepare their beds. You sit atop yours and stare off into the wilderness--rolling hills, the odd tree or rock, and a deceiving breeze that continues to cause your head to turn when it blows around a leaf or through some bushes. The sky, however, is beautiful. With no light to pollute it, you can make out the full extent of the starry night.

There's an ocean of stars swimming in a cloud of various colours. Just like on Earth, there's a moon high above, which is currently a waning crescent. You start to wonder how different thing world truly is from your own. It reminds you how far you are.

Besides the constant headache this party gives me, this world isn't so bad. If I was offered the ability to go home, I don't even think I'd want to.

You soon head to bed and try to get some rest before your watch in the morning. It's Eva's turn first, so she sits with her attention out to the horizon.
