At the start of her shift, Evelyn felt her phone vibrate, so she pulled over. Upon pulling her phone out, she found a text from Spencer. Once she'd taken a deep breath, she finally braved checking it.
'Hey could we have lunch together?'
'sure. u okay?'
'yeah Evie'
'ur place?'
'That okay??'
'Yeah Ill get some food from CCH'
'Thanks Evie'
Evelyn considered asking what exactly Spencer wanted to say, but she decided against it. She came to terms that whatever happens, happens. Then again, it didn't make pulling up to his house or walking up to his door any easier. It even took her a second to knock on his door. Spencer opened the door, to which Evelyn flashed a smile.
"Hey." Evelyn said.
That's when Spencer made his move, pulling Evelyn in tight before kissing her lips. The sudden movement made her drop the two coffees she had in a cup holder. When it hits the ground, the two jolt, before Evelyn said "Fuck."
"Oh shit. Sorry." Spencer cursed, looking down to the pool of coffee oozing onto his floor. "I didn't get any on your uniform?"
Stepping back, Evelyn looked down to her pant legs, finding no stains. "Nope."
"Heh. Sorry about that."
"It's okay. How about we try again?"
"Sounds good to me."
Spencer stepped towards Evelyn. As they kissed again, Evelyn made sure to grip the paper bag in her hand tighter. When their lips parted, Evelyn said "So, you okay Spence? I know last night was..."
"Yeah. I uhh... How about you sit down and I'll clean this up?"
"Sure."
Evelyn walked around the spilled coffee and to Spencer's table, where she waited. Once Spencer had cleaned up the mess, he sat down with Evelyn who said "So, how did they take it?"
"Good. I mean I think it's still bit of a shock for them, but they like you at least."
Evelyn felt a wave of relief upon hearing Spencer's statement. "Well that's good."
"Yeah." Spencer paused for a second. "Sorry it's just..."
"It's a lot to take in." Evelyn interjected.
"That it is..." A nervous chuckle leaves Spencer's mouth. "You know I never thought I'd do this again. Didn't think I could."
Evelyn put a hand on Spencer's. "Well, I'm glad you did. Really Spence, I-"
Spencer's eyes met with Evelyn's as tears begin to well. "So am I."
The two smiled before Evelyn patted his hand. "Heh. Well, I hate to cut this romantic moment short, but not all of us are retired, y'know?"
"Oh of course. You know I could brew up some coffees if you want?"
"That'd be great Spence."
He stood and headed over to his coffee machine.
"Don't drop 'em this time." Evelyn called out.
"Now technically, you dropped them."
Rolling her eyes, Evelyn sighed "Whatever."
As he chuckled to himself, Spencer brewed the two coffees. By the time he came over with them, Evelyn was halfway through her meal. She thanked him for the coffee, before drinking it down with the rest of her meal. Once done, she says "So, you still feel like meeting later, Tiger?"
What does Spencer say?
