Chapter 43 by hewhoismany hewhoismany

Where will Bathilda spend her night?

Go and see Dumbledore.

It was hard. Really, really, really hard. Even harder than Draco’s cock as she’d felt him up through his trousers during their last make-out session. But Bathilda knew what was really important, and even though she knew it would hurt the trust she was building with Draco, she blew him off to go see Professor Dumbledore in his office. It was empty, aside from the old man, one hand still blackened and gnarled. “Hello again, Bathilda. Interesting semester thus far?”

“Yes, Headmaster,” Bathilda replied immediately, always eager for a teacher’s approval. It was one of the best ways to get ahead at her point in life, after all.

The man inclined his head, then offered Bathilda a seat. “Can you tell me of what you’ve learned thus far?” Sitting in the chair, Bathilda told Dumbledore everything. Well, not quite everything. She’d left out the hot and heavy details. Still, now the head of the Order of the Phoenix knew what was going on. He took it gravely. “I had already known of Draco’s task, given to him by Voldemort himself,” Bathilda shuddered involuntarily at the name. “But I was not aware of the Vanishing Cabinet. I will make sure the Order takes possession of it.”

Bathilda nodded, but found herself speaking up. “Excuse me, Professor, but won’t that just make Draco take another route of trying to get what he needs?” She still didn’t know exactly what that was, but she felt her logic was still sound. “From the way he talks about it sometimes, it makes me feel that if I wasn’t there to support him, he’d be Imperiusing people and trying cruder methods.”

There was a twinkle in Dumbledore’s eyes as he looked at her, and Bathilda realized it was pride. “Quite right, my girl. You know, when we do turn you back into Harry Potter, I do hope you retain some of those critical thinking skills.” Bathilda didn’t know whether to take that as a compliment or an insult. “But you are correct. I wasn’t going to tell you, but since you’ve pointed it out: we’re going to replace the Vanishing Cabinet paired to Draco’s with one connected to a different set, the other end in the middle of nowhere. Help him with fixing the Vanishing Cabinet, and when he plans to send **** Eaters through, we’ll send members of the Order through the real matched pair.” Then, feeling he did still need to point out the fairly obvious, Dumbledore told her, “Please continue helping him with repairing the Cabinet. The faster you do so, the sooner this can end.”

It looked like he had more to tell her, but before he could begin, Bathilda interrupted once more. “Professor! What will...happen to Draco?” For some reason, she found herself scared of the answer, despite all Draco had done to her when she was Harry Potter.

As if the answer was obvious, Dumbledore simply said, “He’ll be tried for his crimes. Likely sent to Azkaban.” Then, he smoothly moved on to the rest of the special lesson, one that involved showing her much of You-Know-Who’s past. But by the time she left to get back to the Dungeons, Bathilda found herself worried more for Draco than she thought of the enemy who had marked her for ****.
