50 Million Elvis fans can't be wrong...
Arron sat down quietly with Sarah as the two of them waited in the waiting room off the way for word from Michael on when they would be able to see him. The operation had been a success and they had managed to save his leg and, more importantly, they were positive that there would be no loss of mobility after he completely healed. That had been a very big relief, though the prognosis for recovery was going to be long, slow, and require quite a bit of rehab in the process.
"Thank god for small miracles, huh?"
He nodded and then turned to look at his daughter who adjusted her jacket to cover her shoulder as gently as possible. "It's going to be a long road for him. It's only fair that we do our part to help him recover, right?"
Sarah nodded and then smiled slightly as she leaned back, winced at the pain of the wrap digging into her shoulder, and then looked at her father. "Can't imagine this is going to be easy for either of us, really."
Arron nodded and looked up as Michael reappeared. "He's up."
The two of them followed the young man back down the hall and into a recovery room where they had put him. He was still a little dazed but as soon as he opened his eyes and spotted Sarah, a smile creeped onto his lips. "I'm glad you're okay.."
"Thanks to you, Mr. Hero."
He then looked behind and spotted Arron who was equally happy to see him. "Mrs. Andrews..."
"You Police Officers just do one miracle after another, don't you?" He leaned forward and took his hand and gave it a gentle squeeze. "I ran into your mother outside. Greta, isn't it? She'll be back, she had to go chase some chickens?"
He laughed a little and laid his head back down on the pillow. "Mom and her chickens."
"You'll have a long time to tell us about them," he replied. "When you're released, you'll stay with my daughter and I until you get better." When he started to object, Arron shook his head to end the conversation. "It's the least we can do, you saved my daughter's life. I owe you at least to take care of you."
Realizing he was beat, the officer chuckled. "My mom said never to argue with a woman when she makes up her mind."
Arron just laughed at that but Sarah noticed something rather important but let it go: Unlike her, Arron had never let go of the man's hand...
