Got 99 problems and the car is one...
With the clock striking 5:15, Arron slowly got up from his desk and stretched, getting the kinks out from his shoulders and the weight that they were unnaturally carrying (could he feel sorry for them? Why not?) It still irked him a little just how easily he managed to get this job and the office that came with it, especially since he had really no clue on what any of Marjorie's "friends" had said in his regard. Sarah, for her part, had sounded extremely excited and a bit jealous at his good fortune but reminded him that this was a gift and not to look it in the mouth. Arron responded, inquiring when she got so long in the tooth that she resorted to cliche.
"Just leaving?"
He nodded as he walked out of his office and shut the door behind him before turning and moving quickly to meet Cynthia at the front of the department office. "Sorry, you were right, I just got so caught up in it that I lost what time it was."
The woman nodded at that. "It was for me too, spent 3 days and nights trying to figure out what shade went with what. Just gave up and went with the recommended package. Still wished I didn't, though I can't really complain since it's part of our job after all." She looked over at him. "If you don't mind me asking, do you like to run or exercise a bit?"
He thought about it for a moment. "I like to run but I haven't had the chance to do so in the past few weeks. Been too busy..."
"Why don't we go and use the gym? There's an administrator gym that we can use at the admin building, it's up on G-Block," she pointed in the general direction of the building, "we have access to it as long as the campus is open."
Although he was a little weary about using and changing in a woman's locker-room, Arron really couldn't help but feel the burden of not exercising for the past few weeks after spending literally hours daily doing so. "I guess, I just need to get some things for me to wear."
Cynthia bobbed her head a bit too excitedly for him to feel comfortable but afterwards, she waved at him before turning down the row of cars and heading to her parked one. Arron turned the opposite direction and was just about to reach his when he spotted Derek sitting on the hood of his car with a mixed look of dejection and a look of the lost. "Problems got you down?"
He looked up from his phone and shrugged. "Guess my good deed was outweighed by my smugness earlier. Car won't start."
Arron stopped and looked at it for a moment. "No luck with getting a tow?"
Derek shrugged. "Tried. The association said they can't get ahold of anyone right now, apparently some truck jack-knifed on the interstate and all trucks are diverted to that."
Arron nodded at that and then shrugged his shoulders, not noticing how Derek's eyes subtly shifted to watch the apparent woman's chest rise and fall with the movement. "I can give you a lift home. Where do you live?" When he mentioned the street, Arron nodded. "It's actually close by to where I live. Come on, hop in."
