Chapter 28

Can this day — NO! DON’T JINX IT!
Half saved it?
He sighs, “Sorry to hear that.”
You stop fumbling for a groveling apology and sigh yourself, “The prophecy doesn’t make it any easier you know.”
He goes still and some dark, painful, and helpless burns in his eyes, something a lot like gut-wrenching guilt crosses his face. Thankfully it’s not directed at you, but the chill going up your back doesn’t reassure you that he isn’t feeling violent. You carefully move away, you don’t want to set him off with sudden movements. He eventually seem to compose himself and sat on the beach, looking defeated.
“My son Luke,” He says eyes somewhere on the horizon, “He defected to the Titans, rallied others to do the same. I can’t say I blame him... The way we can’t interact with our kids... We can’t be there for them... It’s hard. Being a god comes with responsibilities that we can’t run away from and sooner or later we just have to go.”
“Then why even have kids?” You ask something uncomfortable squirming in your gut, “You know they have troubled lives, get bullied. Things happen around them that they don’t understand. Some parents only see them as a reminder that a god left.”
You could be pissing him off with your questions, and die for your curiosity.
Hermes looked at the sky, “Why? We can’t help ourselves. It’s in our nature to sleep with mortals, and when it come down to it, we have kids and they pay the price. It’s why it’s all happening. Our kids feel unloved and unappreciated and then they turn to the Titans.”
“Why do they think that’ll be better?” You yelp, “If the Titans win, then they’ll be gutted the moments the Titans come to power!”
Hermes gave you a look at that, half-amused and half-rueful, “It isn’t even about that sometimes. Sometimes they just want payback for us not being better parents. And even the minor gods hate that they aren’t given respect despite they are gods.”
You look to the side at that, “That can be galling.”

You walk away from the beach after Hermes took a phone call (Seriously? Gods use phones?) and vanished. You really aren’t sure what to think about today so far. Hermes seemed pretty cool for a god, but then again, if he had time to chat with you, why not his kids? Then there is the defection of the other campers that you hadn’t considered. It makes sense, in a way, you had harbored fantasies of beating your father to **** before. You can see that how it hurts and why anything to get back at them sounds super appealing.
With a sigh, you decide to head to the dining pavilion, you can’t say your in the mood to eat, but you are hungry and frankly a quick bite to eat before bed sounds like a decent end to the day. You had spent more time talking to Hermes than you initially would have thought and the topics are more than enough to keep you occupied. This seems like a much bigger issue than just you or Percy. This is something that has been festering in the hearts of the demigod’s for years and just now is coming to a head. Demigods would never have easy lives, you could agree to that and even accept it to a point, but to cause a war?
Worst of all, people will die.
Not just demigods, but regular people who have no stake in this will undoubtedly be slaughtered. Monsters already kill people and demigod are invariably tasked with killing them to ensure people’s safety. If there is a war going on, then the demigods will be too busy killing each other than stopping monsters, causing a huge rise in ****. Crimes will go unsolved because of the mist and criminals will get bolder and cause more crime. A cascade wave of **** caused by a battle waged by beings who didn’t notice or didn’t care.
You are at the Dining Pavilion before you know it, you find yourself sitting down, trying to process everything. You see that a sandwich with veggies and dressing has been set in front of you and give a tired smile to the nymph serving you. She smiles back and zooms away before returning with some water. You thank her and she giggles before leaving. You take a bite and chew thoughtfully.
This is a great sandwich.

You return to your cabin — without incident but with many worried looks sent your way — which happens to be empty, no naked naiad in sight. Which is a relief in a sense (massive disappointment in another); you’ve been unaware of how much is at stake in regard to the future.
Which can’t last. As much as you would like to take a whole month to adjust and figure out where you stand in regards to everything, you don’t have the luxury. Stephanie was right back on your first day. The camp is in peril, it rests in the hands of four people — in which the leader seems to hate the other three — and if they fall, everything falls to you.
The prophecy is coming, and be it Percy or you, you need to be ready.
You barely close your eyes when a cool hand presses agains your cheek. You open your eyes to see Flumen smiling at you. She presses her lips against yours and you smile into the kiss as he her trails down to trace the edge of your jeans. As she pulls away you note that she is once again in her version of clothing, which is very much see through and enticing. Her hand unsnaps the button and slides the zipper slips into your underwear to gently trace her fingers along your growing length.
“Hey.” You greet, grinning.
“Hello.” She purrs, letting her clothes slip from a shoulder “Up for some fun?”
You are about to answer when someone knocks at the door. You both freeze before she literally dives into the fountain and you awkwardly tuck away your erection to zip up your pants so it doesn’t look too obvious (which make it very uncomfortable with a dick your size). You stumble to the door only to see Melanie. She kisses you in a way of greeting and immediately you feel the water shift as Flumen sees and keeps watching. You hold her by the hips and kiss her back before you gently pull away.
“Hey Jack.” She says, “Heard about the... ‘spar’. Sorry about him, he’s not really happy about where we stand.”
“Where we stand?” You inquire, a suspicion entering your head, “Why?”
She sighed, “We used to date and he’s the possessive type...”
You groan, “You mean that was because you sat with me?”
She exhales, “Dumping him made him mad and me sitting with you pushed him over the edge. To be fair he’s been stewing with anger for a while, he seemed decent enough at first, but he started to act like he was some massive hotshot. He’s always thought he was the best, but Percy coming in he felt like he had to overdo it. I broke up with him and suddenly it pushed him over the tipping point into wanting ****. Then you come in start talking to me and he blows his lid and he decides you need to be shown where you stand.”
Relationship Drama.
Of all the things you already have to deal with, now you have relationship drama.
Oh well, whatever.
“I blame you for this.” You accuse in resigned annoyance, “I blame you for this in its entirety.”
“I repent. I repent.” She giggles before coyly leaning against you, “So I kinda wanted to make it up to you...”
“Oh?” You reply, amusement growing.
“Mind if I demonstrate?” She whispers in your ear as her hand tugs against your unbuttoned jeans.
You feel Flumen shift in the water and there isn’t any angry vibes or anything, but rather...
Interest and Arousal?
Why?
Oh.
Oh!
If Flumen wants a show...
