Resque mission
“Well there are two places that are the most secure in a castle. The Tallest tower and the deepest dungeon. I will lead half of us to the tower, Zuljah can you lead the rest into the dungeon.” You explain.
They split into groups and your road on the back of Pax, pulling shadows around her to keep you secure and hidden as they made their way up the tower. You had been locked inside a tower like this and the sight of it was brought up painful but useful memories. Pax stopped at a door to the room at the top of the tower. Behind You, the Trolls hid in the shadows. Lights lit up the spiral staircase leading up creating patches of shadow that also spiralled up the tower. The light did not hurt the dark trolls bit it did break the shadow forms. The shadow forms made them only **** to the shadows of weapons and allowed them to move like mist. Pax, like other shadow animals and Eldor, were hurt by light as they had given themselves fully to shadow magic and would only revert to a normal form when dead. You used your body to create shadows to connect the gaps the light created. Now you used your magic to create a key for the lock.
CLICK
The door swung open. Inside you saw the Forest Prince. He had the lower body and antlers of an Irish elk and the upper body of a forest troll, but the antlers were still rather short for his size, he was still a kid.
Nozok shifted into the room and used his impressive strength to break the chains that held the prince. Your cheeks flushed in the gloom as you watched the impressive feet of strength performed by the smaller than average troll.
As the chains broke there was a shudder as the whole castle shook. “What is going on?”You asked.
“The castle is collapsing; it is being shaken from its base. Something must be happening in the dungeons!” Nozok shouted in alarm. “Follow us, your majesty, we have to get out of here!”
The demi-god wobbled to his Cervitaur feet. He had been channid in this tower for a long time. They dashed down the spiral stare case. You snuffed the torches as you went to allow Pax to pass as the whole building shook and the walls started to crack. Snuffing the lights would alert the guards to their presence but hopefully, they will be more focused on escaping the shaking castle. Glancing out of the window the trolls could see that the army had taken the castle shaking as a sign that the infiltration was successful and were retreating as Eldor and the emerald dragon held the elves back.
The infiltration party made it to the courtyard where they had agreed to wait for Zuljah and the others. They were nowhere in sight. Most of the Trolls and Pax hid in the shadows in case elves came as they waited for Zuljah
“We should go back for them. Nozok, take the prince to safety. I am going to find Zuljah.” You declare.
“You won’t be taking the prince anywhere." An unknown female voice sounded. They turned to see Brite, Queen of the elves. She wore a majestic white gown that had plates of splendid armour over the top and a sword strapped to her belt. On her head was a helmet with a jewelled crown built into it. “I must say that I am surprised to see a human here when I was told Trolls were attacking.” She commented with amusement.
“By **** Abbán You have brought a curse on not only your lands but all the lands that surround you. Please let us take him home so that cures shall be lifted.” You requested.
“Nonsense, in a few years he will be wed to my daughter then he will be free to roam the castle as it will be his to rule. My land will run rich with produce and game.” Brite replied.
“But your castle is crumbling and the drought has ravished our lands. Many have died and many will continue to die if you keep this up.” You beg.
“Puny human. Your lives are meaningless, humans live such short lives, all you can do is die, what difference does it make how that happens. My kingdom has vast stocks of food and water that can outlast the drought and when the rain returns this dimi-gods magic will fill our land.” The queen scoffed.
“Then you lead me ****. Attack!” You shout as you used your shadow magic to sniff the lights. Instantly blinded by the pitch darkness you had plunged them into, you created a shield of shadow around her and Abbán as she felt the queens magic hammer at it repeatedly.
Pax leapt from the shadows and bit into the queen’s shoulder. She cried out in pain and her magic barrage ended long enough for you to strike back hitting the queen with a bolt of solid shadow. The Queen doubled over as the bolt hit. The Trolls sprang from the shadows and tried to grapple her to the ground. All this time the rumbling and shaking had been intensifying now it seemed to be coming from directly below them. It was like the ground had a heartbeat.
“ENOUGH!” Brite shouted and with one swift movement she through the trolls off and thrust her hand into the air. A bright light filled the courtyard and you were temporally blinded again. There were no shadows to be found as the magic filled in every hidden space. The trolls lost their shadow from reverting back to their grey-skinned forms as they were blasted into the walls of the courtyard. Pax writhed on the ground in agony as the light was slowly killing her.
“Stop it please, you are killing her.” Nora pleaded in desperation.
“Ha” Brite scoffed. “I am victorious. The demi-god’s powers will be mine. I will sort out whatever is causing this quake and you will rot in my dungeon for the rest of your miserable life.” She cackled maniacally.
The queen walked towards You and drew her sword, kicking the helpless jaguar on her way over. She raised it to strike the human down with all her ****.
