A Problem With Casting !

"Not another refusal ?" It was the producer of a new major studio movie. The company had purchased the rights to the sensational best seller about the girl who had been discovered in a Central American jungle, supposedly raised by monkeys. Casting had begun well and they had provisionally signed two A-listers to play the male and female psychologists who clash over the best way to try to rehabilitate the girl. But they could not seem to find an up and coming starlet to take on the role of the girl. Probably because the script called for her to be naked throughout the entire movie !

"This one baulked at the scene where the girl pees in the hospital corridor because she doesn't know how to use a toilet" replied another of the men around the conference table. "You're the casting director" he was angrily reminded. "You're supposed to sort out these kinds of problems."

"They don't want to have all this nudity hanging around as baggage over the rest of their careers. What with re-runs on TV, stills all over the internet and so on."

"Not even for the chance to appear with Magnus Flood and Hazel Chapman ?"

"Evidently not."

It was the director who now had a thought. "I know it's a bit left field but what about Bimbo WAG ?"

"Who ?" demanded the producer.

"That girl dating the footballer who was all over the tabloids. Now she's got a part in a TV soap."

"She does still have quite a high tabloid profile" admitted the casting director. "But can she act ?" the producer wanted to know.

"She seems to get by on the soap. And anyway, she doesn't have much dialogue in this apart from 'ug'. We can coach her in the physical stuff."

"It's worth a screen test I guess" said the producer. "Who's her agent ?"

"Harry Mount."

"Jeez, can't she do better than that ?"

"He helped her out when the tabloids first got their claws into her and then just kind of stuck around."

"OK, well get onto Harry. He'll be wetting himself at the prospect of a high profile movie. Let's see if this girl's any good."
