A new task

You rise and thank the king "Tell me, how can I best serve you, my lord?" You ask.

"You have already performed a great act of heroism. But there are other evils in my land. I could use two strong knights to help fight against those evils. They won't all be monsters like this beast as humans can be just as monstrous as any foul creature. As knights of my realm, you may also test your fate against the dragon that guards my daughter. However, if you want a task to work on together there is a small town called Vagos who have reported mass hallucinations and hysteria along with demonic sightings. I would like you to investigate." The king replied.

With your quest assigned you made your exit and head back through the market to where Mary, the baby and your Yurt were. You found them all safe. You stayed to look after them while Hwin went to buy supplies. She would need weapons and armour for herself if she was to be a knight. You had decided that it would be useful in combat to have her on your back shooting arrows like Harold did when you fought the manticore. Therefore, she would need a saddle. With your Yurt, you went to find a tanner who would have saddles for sale. It was shameful to think that you would be saddled and ridden like a common horse but it was efficient in battle and only in battle would you allow it. You found the tanner's shop and called out to the owner inside as you could not fit. "May I speak with the owner of this shop!" You shouted.

The owner came out, he was an older man, going bald and wearing grubby clothes. "What do you... wow oh my you're a centaur." He exclaimed taken aback.

"Yes and I need a saddle one that can be fitted over or in my armour." You requested.

"I have never fitted a centaur with a saddle before, but then again I have never seen a centaur in armour either." The man replied.

"But you have seen centaurs before?" You asked.

"Yes, yes and they all spoke with the same Nastromo accent all heavy with a mix of your own centaur tongue. I must say your common is very good, much better than the others. They all passed buy heading in all directions. they all decided to leave having had such a hard time getting through the gate. They wanted stuff like a new harness for their yurts or tanned hides to turn into covers for their flanks. " The tanner replied. "Now if you will unclasp your Yurt and allow me to take your measurements I will see if I have a saddle that fits," he concluded.

You unclasped your yurt and stepped forward. You donned your armour for the measurements and stepped towards the old man. His measurement was quite invasive with him having to go under you and draw a tape across your body. "Now I won't have one that can be integrated into your armour as is but If you remove this plate." He explained as he taped the plate of armour directly behind your torso. Then I will have a saddle that would work." He explained.

It took a bit of adjusting but eventually, you got the saddle to work. Satisfied you met back up with Hwin. She had brought a gambison along with a kite shield, lance and a small horse bow, apparently, she had had the same idea of riding on your back. You showed her the saddle and she loved it.

"Now then, lets head towards Vagos, we still have time in the day before night. We can make good progress." Hwin declared and you agreed. She went into the Yurt to check on the baby. Mary sat outside and the two of you talked as you pulled the yurt. She had a lot of questions about centaurs and being a knight.
