Chapter 43 by Rafael Rafael

What's next?

Your Soon-to-be-father-in-law renegotiates

It's evening. The heat is more bearable. You sit on your parents couch. Your parents, Gwen, and Patricia are all doting on you, Alex is sitting on a chair on the other side of the coffee table. His ostracized status forcing him to be present yet keeping him from doing anything else. You finished telling about your encounter with the Biofose woman about an three hours ago (with some choice details left out). Your soon-to-be-father-in-law Max is currently going over the contract that was left in an other room. You are treated like you are the victim of an **** by your family. Yet the one person that you would actually be the best comfort is sitting opposite you trying to look stoic. This has caused your mode to sour and the "oh poor you" from everyone else feels rather shallow because of it.

Finally Max returns to the living room. He immediately draws everyone's attention, his verdict on this weighs heavily. He sits down in a chair next to the couch and place the contract on the table. "Well it''s a good contract i will give them that" he sighs as he sits. "Oh dear, can't we do this some other time. Poor Amy has been trough plenty enough already today." Patricia exclaims. "I decide when i have been trough enough and i want to hear what kind of thing this is." You snarl. leaving everyone stunned at your tone. "Very well" Max responds calmly.

"To start with this contract is very beneficial towards you but that is not surprising giving what they think they can gain. If you take the contract as is you are free to terminate it whenever you want and you are free to say no to basically anything they ask you to do other than accessing your medical records which they can do for as long as the contract is not terminated. Unless you deny them a lot they will be **** to pay even if they are not actively studying you. The healthcare plan covers everything and let you chose your own provider if you so chose. These kinds of beneficial plans would normally cost an arm and a leg but you won't have to pay a dime with this deal. The monetary compensation could basically make you financially stable for years if not for the rest of your life if the company survives that long. If you where a normal client of mine i would strongly suggest you sign the contract before they realize what they just handed you. I would not do that though as i believe that they are so **** that they would probably agree to even larger monetary compensations including an adjusting positively for inflation. In short i think you should take it. Even tough they where incredibly untactful when initially approaching you."

Silence falls over the room as the verdict has been announced. "What about the **** part" you ask finally? "What **** part" your mother pipes up? Max flips trough the contract to the paragraph "it basically insures that in the event of Amy's **** that they have the right to perform an autopsy" he states. "Yeah i don't lite that, i feel like it gives them reason to come after me" You respond. Max smiles as he produce a pen and makes a large cross over the paragraph. "Then you won't sign it or any other contract with a similar paragraph"

There are several more questions asked but none from you. You feel content. You basically get the beast deal out of it thanks to Max and you trust his judgement in this. Finally he speaks up "So Amy do i have your permission to renegotiate the contract with Biofose?" You give him a nod "yes, i trust you." Max smiles and stands in a hurry. He grabs the contract and walks out to the next room. After a few seconds he starts speaking, he is already making the call.

"Yes this is Maximilian Cunningham i represent Amy Doe and wish to discus the contract you offered her." (short pause). "Yes we are calling back this soon. Listen my client is overall happy with the contract but would like some minor changes. Primarily to the monetary compensation as well, we believe she might be worth a bit more than that, aha, (inaudible) yes that ought to do it. But more importantly the part about what happens if she where to die under the contract has my client distressed especially after your meeting today which frankly did little to inspire confidence. She is however happy to... whats that? Great! Alright... Fantastic! I yes we will be happy to meet up. Wonderful."

Three days later you meet with a very happy biofoze representative, and with your father and soon-to-be-father-in-law present you sign the contract. Later that day your bank account fills and you are contacted by a nurse from the local hospital asking to book a day for a slew of examinations. So now you are a very wealthy guinea pig.

What will the rich guinea pig do with her new fortune?
