Chapter 39

Do you have feelings for her? Do you just try to cheer her up? How do you respond?
You confess your feelings for Sara
You look at Sara Cleft in a new way. She has expertly applied her makeup to conceal the defects **** on her beautiful face by age. You can still see the traces of time on her gently tanned skin. Crow's feet in the corners of her blue eyes, laugh lines framing her mouth. Looking at her you would never think to describe her as "wrinkled" but there are a few there that cannot by easily concealed by foundation.
Despite these slight flaws, Sara is a gorgeous and vibrant woman. Her blue dress has cinched her curves into a sexy hourglass and the plunging neckline exposes so much of those lusciously huge breasts that you can almost see her right nipple from your vantage point.
You know from your unusually intense and intensely unusual first time together in the Clefts' basement that you get along quite well sexually. But, sex isn't everything, and you had never really stopped to consider a relationship with your neighbor. You had never even considered a serious relationship with a woman.
Mrs. Cleft is doing her best not to look at you as you openly stare at her profile. She pretends to watch out the window, but the flick of her eyes in your direction betrays her real focus.
You try to imagine yourself with "Sara" instead of with "Mrs. Cleft". You can picture yourself doing certain things together, like making love or sharing a meal, but it's hard to imagine yourself out dancing with her or holding her hand at the movies. And what about beyond that? You were accepted to a few different colleges and were planning on choosing one and starting the search for an apartment in a few weeks.
Then an movie plays itself out in your head. It's a weird one, maybe taken from a movie you've seen at some point and adapted to your imagination. You picture your new apartment and both you and Sara wearing old t-shirts and overalls painting the walls of the bedroom you're going to be sharing. The paint brushes sit forgotten and the walls are half painted as you and Sara embrace on the floor. She smooths your hair from your face and you tap her nose with your finger. Then your mouths press together in a torrid kiss, and it doesn't seem weird.
You shake your head to pull yourself out of your reverie.
"Sara," you whisper, your mind made up.
She turns to look at you, sadness still evident on her face.
"I...," you struggle to articulate your feelings. "I mean, I'm a lot younger than you."
"I know," Sara says flatly.
"It's, I mean, you're married."
"Yeah," she admits.
I am going to go to college in-," you stop yourself when you see her expression drop even lower. "I'm saying this all wrong."
"You don't have to say anything," she says. "I get it, it's fine."
"No," you say, your voice rising with emotion above a whisper, "no, it's not fine."
You practically lunge at her, pressing your lips against hers.
"Mmmmmm!" She exclaims with surprise.
You throw your arms around her neck and pull her against your kiss. She relaxes and her lips part. Your open mouths share the space, your tongues twisting together and tasting one another. It's one of the most passionate kisses you've ever experienced and you both seem **** to break it. You finally pull away, both of you a little breathless.
"What was-," she begins to ask, but you interrupt.
"My way of saying I have feelings for you," you say. "You are beautiful, and I'm really attracted to you, and I just, I mean I never thought about it before, so like..."
"Say no more," Sara says. "I don't want to ruin the party. I'm just glad to know my feelings aren't, um, misplaced."
You give her a saucy grin.
"Nothing on you is misplaced," you snap your teeth like you're going to bite her and she giggles.
"I'm so relieved," she sags in her seat. "I mean, I'm old enough to be your mom, I didn't-"
"Say no more," you interrupt with a wink. "So are you going to be my wing-girl tonight at the party?"
"Of course," she enthuses. "I was hoping you'd let me show you the ropes and, if you're up for it, we could have some fun along the way."
"Mmmmm, I like the sound of that. What about Tom?"
"Oh, he'll be happy no matter what," she shrugs. "He always finds lots of nice young ladies to take care of, but if you'd like it won't bother me if you want to spend time with him too. As long as we're only talking about the party tonight..."
She frowns and furrows her brow in a mockery of her jealous expression from earlier. You both find this wildly hilarious and the conversation dissolves into fits of laughter. You've hardly recovered from the giggling when the SUV arrives at its destination.
"Here we are, ladies," Tom announces.
On to the party, hang back while Tom goes inside, or...?
