Chapter 6 by dialectic

What does John say?

Follow Lucy for a chat, and get pulled aside by Dana

John had only just set down his beer, which was mostly full. There was a good chance that Lucy knew that.

If this weren't Dana's circle of friends, this would be a blatant come-on. John wasn't sure it *wasn't* a come-on anyway, but he'd known most of Dana's friends for years, and they had never shown the slightest interest, or even any sign of sexual aggressiveness of this type. Maybe they were experimenting? Or playing some sort of game of truth or dare?

Lucy had walked away with a sly smile, and John got up to walk after her. He found her leaning deep into the fridge.

She looked over her shoulder. "See anything you like from back there? What's your pleasure?" The double-entendres were clear enough. But John wasn't playing just yet.

"Can we chat a minute?" asked John.

Lucy pulled out a bottle of gin and a can of tonic. "What's on your mind?"

John leaned back as Lucy poured herself a G+T. "Look, you girls are acting a bit funny this evening. Give it to me straight: are you all playing a joke on me tonight?"

Lucy pulled a segment of lime from a small bowl. "Not that I know of. I'm certainly for real," she said, slowly walking up to John. She moved in until she started invading his personal space, gently wedging a leg between John's. She gave him a measured look as she drew a sip of her drink.

"Oh, Kay," John said. "This is, ah, a bit sudden."

"Do you like me?" said Lucy. Not seeking approval, but gently pushing. She raised her dress to let her push her join against John's leg.

Oh god, thought John, she must be totally wasted already.

"Er, yes," John said, improvising, "but I haven't really been thinking of you in that way. Any of you, nothing personal. You're all younger than me, and I didn't really want to mess around with Dana's friends."

"I don't see why that should matter to you." Lucy slowly ground herself on John's leg.

"Maybe it doesn't have to," said John, trying to make an excuse to steer Lucy away from a drunken mistake she'd regret. "Just give me some time. This is moving very, very fast."

Lucy stopped her grinding. "So you want to take it slow. Super-chill, no pressure," she said.

"Yeah, I guess," said John.

"Okay," said Lucy, backing gently away, "fair enough. My offer still stands, though," she said. "See you in the living room," she called back, putting her lime in her drink and walking away.

John stood for a moment collecting his thoughts. He was just about to return to the living room himself when his sister Dana blocked the doorway with her arms and legs.

"Hey," she said with an impish grin.

"Hey," said John with a smile.

"You may not pass," said Dana, "before you answer one question."

John snorted. "Okay," he moaned good-naturedly, "what is it?"

"Why would it matter, if you were getting a blowjob, whether I were there?"

John was baffled. "What *is* it with you girls tonight? Are you all drunk or stoned or something?"

Dana smiled patiently but gave John an all-too-sober look. "Just answer the question, okay?"

"Okay fine," said John. "It's about getting a blowjob in front of you and your friends. It's not exactly cool because the vibe is all wrong."

"So you could imagine some other people that maybe you'd be okay getting blown in front of ?"

"Yeah. They'd have to be pretty chill, because you know I don't want to be the center of attention. And I figure the girl blowing me would have to be a bit of a freak. Unfortunately, I don't think I know people like that."

"You sure?" asked Dana. "So you don't think me or my friends are that chill. Or freaks."

"Are you doing this for a dare?" asked John. "Because this is starting to get a bit annoying."

"You don't think I could be a freak?" Dana insisted.

"Okay look Dana, I love you, but that's so not what our relationship is about. We're brother and sister."

"Some boys perv on their sisters," Dana pointed out. "Haven't you ever tried to get a peek of me naked?"

"I've got the internet, Dana, I don't need to catch a peek. Look, maybe you are a nympho or an exhibitionist or something, but your sexuality has never been part of how I see you."

"Hmm. Okay," Dana said. She stepped out of the way with a flourish. "You may pass," she announced.

"Thanks," said John with the time-honoured arch sarcasm of siblings. He returned to the living room.

How does the situation finally start to become clear for John?
