A hotel on the other side of town.

After ditching the car in an alley somewhere, you change into a set of plain clothes you found in the trunk of the police car, steal all the cash in the wallet. Then you walk into a hotel with Stephanie and book a room for the night. The concierge raises an eyebrow but says nothing, merely asking you not to disturb the other guests as it is very late.

Hanging up the Do Not Disturb sign and locking the hotel door behind you, you immediately flop onto the bed and let out a long breath. Stephanie heads straight for the bathroom, saying that she's been in lockup for three days and is **** for a shower. You almost fall asleep to the gentle pattering of falling water when a familiar heat comes near your face. Cerebos, still in his small dog form, has crawled onto the bed next to you. "I believe, some gratitude is in order." He pants, dripping saliva onto your head.

Wiping your brow, you sit up onto your elbows. "Yeah. Thanks for that." you say, reaching out to pet his head. He raises an eyebrow at you and you pull your hand back. "By the way, what did you do back at the station? And why did you have me download all that stuff?"

"Nothing much," he shrugs, wagging his tail. "Just found the right place for a piss and watched the sparks fly. As for the other thing, information is always good to have. Especially if you're the only one that has it."

You're about to explain that other people probably have access to that information, when Stephanie walks out wearing a bathrobe and her hair in a towel. "Phew! I feel so much better!" She smiles, drying her hair. "Do you want to take a shower? There should be some hot water left."
