Chapter 14 by tailteller

What does the alien do?

Makes peace

Slowly, James watched as the alien woman spread her fingers across his sister's palm. After several moments of everyone breathing heavily, and her red spots slowly fading away, she sighed and stood upright. She turned to James with a blue color taking place from the red, flickering on and off rapidly.

"...James what does flashing mean?", Sally asked.

"I...don't know. But right now I'm sort of experimenting to figure out how to talk to her...", he admitted. He picked up his phone and found a light blue color to show her. That seemed to satisfy her.

"Is...she's one of them, isn't she?", Sally asked while pointing skyward. James nodded, and she stared for a moment. "How...did she wind up here? You never even looked into clearance."

"I found her in the back yard last night. She was all dry and dying." As the two spoke, the alien made her way to James's side and hid behind him.

"...Well it looks like she likes you for it...", she said while slowly standing. The alien tensed up when she moved, but relaxed when James put his hand on her arm.

"Well, it took a full night and part of a morning but...yeah, I think it's safe to say we're good."

Sally's face lit up. "James! With a Nova lady!"

James flushed, speaking defensively. "No! Sal, she's been here less than a day."

Sally made a mock impressed face, "And already diddled the doodle, huh?"

"...No."

"But you think about iiiiiit.", she teased. The alien looked back and forth before staring at James, white spots flickering around her head.

"I think she's trying to say she's confused when they flash like that."

James didn't answer, but tested it anyway. He pulled up a shade of lavender to show her, and she matched it on her cheeks.

"Okay so what's the purple mean?", Sally asked.

"I don't know what they all mean yet, Sal.", James deflected. "Anyways I...well I need some help here. I don't have any clothes for her and...well I know you're unemployed so...could I pay you to stick around when I have to go to work?"

Sally's answer?
