Chapter 13 by tailteller
What comes after clean up?
Hope for Help
Waiting for his sister to arrive was nerve wracking. Less so with the occasional glances he and his new guest stole at each other. Her lavender tinted face was some comfort as well, having figured out that it was some form of a blush. At least he wasn't the only one still thinking about it. He heard a car pull up to the sidewalk, and as he heard a door closed he tugged the alien woman into his bathroom. She tried to copy his puckered lips from earlier. Quickly he gave her a small kiss, and tried to motion for her to stay. When she followed, the doorbell rang. He grabbed his phone and pulled up a yellow screen, showing it to her at the next ring.
That worked. Her spots matched the shade and her eyes widened while she slid herself backwards and into the tub. He closed the door most of the way before hurrying to the front door. Thankfully, when he checked from the peephole, he saw his sister Sally. He opened the door and stepped aside.
"Okay so where's mystery not-an-asian lady?", she asked without hesitation.
"Sal, we gotta talk first."
"You made her up, didn't you?"
"Nnnno...but I have to ask you to be cool first."
"Jamie, I know you totally wouldn't kidnap a lady but if you did you're doing a bad job not being suspicious.", she squinted at him and raised an eyebrow.
"No I didn't, but Sal...just don't scream or make and sudden moves okay?", James started heading to his bedroom, pulling up a blue screen on his phone.
"...And why would I need to stop that from happening?", she stopped walking halfway down the hall. "And why are you looking up colors?"
"Just...come with me, and promise to stay calm okay?"
"How calm?", she bit her lip, and started fidgeting with her fingers.
"Remember when your friend gave you that "funny cigarette" and you didn't panic even when Mom threatened to call the cops?"
"...yeah."
"That calm."
"James, if you really do have a kidnaped Asian lady in there I am going to scream and probably beat you in a blind rage."
"I promise, no one's been kidnapped she's just...sensitive. I don't know how she'll react to a new person."
That seemed like enough to relax her. "Oh. James if this is a dog, that's totally cool."
They managed to get to the bathroom, where he put the phone through the gap first. A soft chatter came in response, and then James opened the door. Sally froze, the alien girl's teeth shot out and she hissed.
"Sally, palms on the ground, now.", James ordered. He kept his voice steady, trying to put the blue screen around his sister in the alien's vision.
"James, the fuck?!", She shouted. The alien girl lowered herself near the ground, spots turning bright red.
"Sally! Hands! Ground! Now, or she's going to kill you!", he barked nearly every word at his sister. Thankfully the threat to her own life had her comply. James dropped his phone and stood between them, extending his palm to both women. "Sally, put your hand on mine. I think it means we're friends."
Sally did as he said, and the alien girl calmed down considerably. Her own hand matched James's and her teeth retracted. The red color on her spots remained, but had dulled down enough that they didn't glow.
"Okay...okay now the same with her.", James said.
"...And she's not going to just tear my hand off?", Sally asked. Her face had no color left.
James shook his head, "No, this happened last night with me and after that she started to calm down." He back out of the space between the two of them. Sally's hand remained raised, and she locked eyes with the alien woman. Watching as she slowly walked closer.
