Spencer makes a call

After lunch, Spencer decided to face the inevitable. After a deep breath, he reaches for his phone with his trembling hand. He then selects Abigail's number from his contacts, trying to picture what she'd say.

"Hello dear." Abigail answered.

"Hey, how's it going?"

"Pretty good. You?"

"Can't complain."

"That's good to hear. Anyway, I wanted to know if you're free this weekend?"

"Should be. You and Geoff thinking of coming down?"

"Sure."

"Great. So what's been happening with you?"

"Well... uhh, there's something I need to tell you."

"What is it Spencer?"

"I've met someone..."

"Like who?"

"Like a girlfriend."

"Oh... What's her name?"

"Evelyn. She's a sheriff's deputy."

"How long have you been seeing her?"

"About a month... I think."

"Time flies when you're having fun, doesn't it?"

Spencer let out a nervous chuckle. "Yeah."

"Well I'm happy for you dear."

"Thanks... Anyway, is Geoff there?"

"He's resting right now."

"Right. Well I'll get Amy to call you once she's back from school. Maybe we can chat if he's up."

"Pretty big 'if', Spencer."

"Ha. Guess we'll find out. See you soon Abigail."

"See you dear."

Abigail hanged up as Spencer sighed with relief.
