Chapter 4 by MickGesitt MickGesitt

Who is the current champion?

Carmella

September 30th, 2019 - Phoenix Arizona - Monday Night Raw

Raw is live from the Talking Sticks Resort Arena in Phoenix Arizona for their season premiere and things are already off to a tumultuous start.

The new Monday Night Raw commentary team featuring Vic Joseph, Dio Maddin, and WWE Hall of Famer Jerry ‘the King’ Lawler looked on in horror as ‘the Beast’ Brock Lesnar returned and attacked Rey Mysterio as well as his son Dominick who was watching from ringside.

The first match of the night - and the new season - saw ‘the Boss’ Sasha Banks defeat one half of the Women’s Tag Team Champions Alexa Bliss to gain some important momentum going into her Hell in a Cell match against Raw Women’s Champion ‘the Man’ Becky Lynch. This was followed by a championship match that saw Raw Tag Team Champions Dolph Ziggler and Bobby Roode retain their titles over Heavy Machinery.

The second hour kicked off with a MizTV segment that featured the Raw return of ‘the Nature Boy’ Ric Flair, ‘the Immortal’ Hulk Hogan, and even ‘the Mouth of the South’ Jimmy Hart. Even though Flair is now seventy and Hogan is well into his sixties, the two wrestling legends were still raring for a fight. It was announced that they would be acting as coaches for opposing teams in a five-on-five tag team match at Crown Jewel on October 31st. Hogan was quick to announce that his team captain is Universal Champion Seth Rollins but Flair quickly returned fire and named his former Evolution partner Randy Orton as the leader of his team.

At the top of the third hour, AJ Styles successfully defended his United States Championship against Cedric Alexander. After the match, AJ’s music is still playing in the arena as the cameras cut backstage.

The door to the women’s locker room opens and Natalya walks out. She’s dressed in her wrestling gear and is heading to the ring for her match against Lacey Evans. Natalya pays R-Truth and the black-clad member of the backstage crew that’s working on something behind him no mind as she walks off.

R-Truth looks back at the crew worker. ”She’s gone. You’re all clear.”

The crew worker removes ‘his’ black baseball cap and shakes out a head of long blonde hair. ‘He’ pulls off a fake mustache then turns and opens a nearby toolbox and pulls out the 24/7 Championship. It’s not a crew worker… it's not a man... IT’S CARMELLA!

Carmella rushes over to the locker room door. “We’ve been hiding out for over two hours now. Guard the door and don’t let anyone in. I just need to shower and change out of this stupid costume and then we can finally get out of here.”

“You got it, ‘Mella,” R- Truth agrees. “No one’s gettin’ passed me.”

Truth had held and lost that 24/7 Championship a grand total of nineteen times over the last four months. He knew that carrying the 24/7 Championship made you a walking target and he knew the paranoid lengths you had to go to in order to keep that title around your waist. So even though he was the one who Carmella pinned last week to win the championship, Truth was going to do whatever he could to help his ‘running mate’ keep her title reign going. Because Carmella had spent the last four months doing the same for him.

Carmella lets out a sigh of relief, something that is extremely rare when you’re holding WWE’s ‘anywhere at anytime‘ title and slips into the locker room.

But while Carmella had made a point to check that the coast was clear and that the locker room was empty she had missed a vital part of it.

She isn’t alone.

Who is in the locker room?
