It is wonderful

The following morning you wake up early. You make sure to get a good shower and pay extra attention to your facial hair. Lora could easily be the hottest girl you ever went on a date with and it’s immediately a serious one. You have no way of knowing if Lora really used her own picture for her account or if perhaps, she used someone else’s picture to draw attention. But if she is as beautiful as the picture she had on her account, you had better not mess this up.

You get to the agreed upon place ten minutes ahead of time. The park is mostly empty, but there are a few people. Some kids around the age of ten and a young couple with a toddler. When staring at them you can’t help but think you and Lora might look like that in a few minutes. Other people might then be staring at you in the same way and assume the two of you to already be a couple with your child. You look around again but don’t see anyone resembling her. You bring out your phone and log on to the site to see if she left a message. Just a message that she was heading out which was send fifteen minutes ago.

While you are checking your phone you suddenly hear a woman’s voice behind you calling your name. You turn around and there is no mistaking. She’s is wearing different clothes and has got her hair a bit different, but this is the girl from Lora’s profile picture. She is standing right in front of you and she is even more beautiful in person than she looked on her picture.

“Uh, yeah. I’m Jason.” You reply. You then hold out your hand and say, “Nice to meet you, Lora.”

Lora offers you a warm smile, then shakes your hand and says, “Nice to meet you too.”

It is only then that you notice a little girl next to Lora. She has the same brown hair and is holding the woman’s hand.

“And this is your daughter I assume.” You say as you squat to meet the little girl on eye level.

“Hey there, Lydia.” You say with a smile as you reach out your hand.

But the little girl doesn’t return your greeting and hides behind her mother’s legs instead.

“Don’t worry about it.” Lora says. “She’s just shy. She’ll warm up to you in time.”

Lora then turns to her daughter and says, “Hey, Lydia. Why don’t you go and have some fun on the playground?”

The little girl then let’s go of her mother and heads off towards the playground.

“She looks a lot like you.” You tell Lora.

“I’m happy she does.” Lora replies. “It would have been hard if she resembled my ex.”

“Does he know she exists?”

“No. I never told him.” Lora says. “And I want to keep it that way. That part of my life is closed.”

Then Lora looks away from her daughter and glances in your direction.

“But what about you?” She asks. “What kind of studies did you focus on in school?”

In the following conversation you tell Lora all about your educational past. Then you ask about hers and she tells you all about those as well. You also learn that she works at a store, preparing online orders for customers. Since her boss has gone through a period of single motherhood as well so she was very sympathetic to Lora’s situation. Thus, she allows Lora to work her shift until it is almost time for kindergarten to end. That way Lora can always pick up her daughter on time. It does however mean Lora can only afford a small apartment. You would offer her to move to your place, but it would probably be weird for a woman like her to pack up and move in with a guy this early after meeting him. After that you tell her all about your job. You also make sure to mention you used to share your place with your best friend before he moved out. Perhaps she’ll pick up on the opportunity to move in with you and suggest it herself.

As you and Lora are talking, the both of you keep an eye out for Lydia. She plays nicely by herself and shares the playground with the other kids. But when she gets onto the swing you step away from Lora towards the playground. You then stand behind Lydia and give her a few pushes so she can swing back and forth. You figure this should go a long way in convincing Lora that you’re not just there for her, but also for her child.

While you are helping Lydia with the swing, Lora come standing next to you and asks about your family. You tell her all about your parents, siblings, uncles, aunts, nephews and nieces. When you then ask her about her family, she tells you she doesn’t have any.

“Both my parents were single children so I never had aunts or uncles to begin with.” Lora explains. “Then my mother died in a car accident when I was a teenager. Just a few years ago, my dad was diagnosed with advanced cancer and died just a few months after. I was never able to scrounge up the money to go visit him. It just went so fast. So yeah, that means it’s just me and Lydia now.”

No wonder Lora is so focused on quickly getting a serious relationship. She must be one of the loneliest people you know of. After hearing her story, you feel overcome with compassion for her and decide to give her a hug.

Lora returns the hug and says, “You know, my ex never would have done that.”

“Really?” You ask. “What would he have done instead?”

“He would have just told me to get over it.” Lora says.

Jesus, what an asshole.

“Hey, it’s all right now.” You say. “All that stuff is in the past.”

You feel Lora take a deep breath. Then, as she breathes out, she relaxes and lets her head rest against yours. Before she breaks the hug, Lora says, “Thanks, Jason. I needed that.”

Then she steps away from you and you go back to helping Lydia with a few more swings. Around 4 pm the three of you head over to a pub for a few drinks. You make sure to treat Lydia to some candy while you have the opportunity. After that you return to the park for Lydia to play some more and you and Lora to learn more about each other.

It is incredible how much Lora focusses on learning as much about you as possible, and in return she lets you know so much about her. You are quite astonished by how open and honest she is. In just these few hours, you feel you have learned just as much about her as you normally would in 10 dates.

All of the sudden, Lora asks you, “Hey, Jason. How long do you plan on dating?”

“Pfft, I don’t know.” You say. “I haven’t ever had a date as serious as this one so I honestly don’t know how long I am expected to date.”

“I am not interested in a long dating process.” Lora says. “Taking care of Lydia leaves me with little free time. And like I said online, I much prefer to get pregnant again soon. So, if you want to spend a whole year dating before we move in together, I may have to look for someone else.”

You too figured dating for a whole year was kinda lengthy. But Lora is probably not just referring to want to move in early. She might also be insinuating she’d prefer to have another baby within the year.

“Suppose everything between us works out perfectly and everything goes exactly as you want it to be. How do you imagine our future?” You ask Lora.

“I’d say, another two, maybe three dates.” Lora says thoughtfully. “Then maybe me and Lydia can move in with you. We are going to have to search for transportation to my job though. I don’t want to stop working and leave you paying for all our expenses. Then after a few months, when we’re all settled down, we can start working on me having your baby.”

The most shocking part about her wish for the future was when she said she wanted to have ‘your’ baby. A woman as gorgeous as her not only wants to have sex with you but also get herself knocked up by you within e few months? Is this like fate apologizing for all those bad and meaningless dates? Are you even comfortable at going so fast?
