Only One Way to Find Out

"You have me at a disadvantage. I have a message for Mr. Vodix Rhan. Is that you?"

He smiles again. It's a bright, warm smile. Feels very genuine, like he wants to be best friends. You'd bet your last dollar he'd kill you in a heartbeat.

"Of course. Although, technically it's Captain Vodix Rhan, of the Ebony Sky. Odd that you'd be given a top secret message, with no idea who to give it too."

"Yea... I was told to tell you that Toyo's is leaking information like a sieve. Government informants everywhere. They're gathering information for a big bust here at the docks."

Vodix nods, the smile never leaving his face, as though he knew all about this. Thats's a bit disconcerting, considering you made it up.

"Thank you for bringing this information, but you see we already know this. Toyo's seems unimportant, but there are many eyes on and around it." A small chuckle. "Most report to me."

Your stomach drops. Generally, dives are great information mines because bigshots aren't watching. You can guess what's coming next...

"So when a well armed man that nobody knows starts poking around asking questions about the Black Sun just as my ship pulls into port with a load of sensitive goods, I make it a point to ask questions of my own."

Well, shit. You figure that's how he knows your name. You resist the urge to glance at Tekka. You've been pretty discrete about the job you are working. If he doesn't know why you're here, maybe you can lie your way out of this. You might even be able to pull this off?

On the other hand, it seems like he thinks you are tracking a large, very illegal goods shipment. If he thinks you are working a government contract, or even trying to collect a private bounty on him, it might be a much wiser plan to come clean. Vodix speaks before you can make up your mind on your next play.

"Guards, would you be so kind as to escort Mr. Marks aboard the Sky. Find him some comfortable accommodations. Once we're done here, I'll have some questions for him." This time his smile doesn't quite reach his eyes. You have a good idea what he means by questioning.

To his side, just behind his line of sight, you see that Tekka is making eye contact. You risk a glance over, and she flashes you that mischievous smile and winks, so fast you aren't sure it actually happened. You wonder what that's all about.

Before you can contemplate it more, you hear a hum from behind you as several blasters are set to kill, and sigh to yourself. Nothing's ever easy.
