The final conflict?

"Really, Dark Buffy?" asked Kennedy. "You really want to go there?"

"Why not?" asked Dark Buffy. "All this meandering down Memory Lane has got me feeling kinda thirsty. And you know what Vengeance Angels do when we're thirsty."

"You're thinking of vampires," said Kennedy.

"Oops!" cried Dark Buffy. "My mistake. Any last words, Kenne -- Hey, stop looking at Halfrek!"

"Why?" asked Kennedy. "You and the other two Amys know my tastes. Why shouldn't I look at a half-naked brunette in my final hours?"

"Because you're with Amy," said Dark Buffy.

"And because it would be wrong?" asked Kennedy.

"Huh?" asked Dark Buffy.

"Never mind," said Kennedy. "Something I heard Faith say in a story once."

"When did Faith say that?" asked Dark Buffy.

"You don't know?" asked Kennedy. "I thought you were Buffy's future."

"Well, I could be," said Dark Buffy.

"So you're like the Ghost of Buffys Yet to Come?" asked Kennedy.

"Something like that," said Dark Buffy. "Where did you learn to be such a smart aleck?"

"From you," answered Kennedy.

"What?" asked Dark Buffy.

"You helped train me, remember?" asked Kennedy.

"I didn't train you," said Dark Buffy. "That must have been some other Buffy."

Kennedy looked back at Halfrek who was still tugging at her necklace.

Yes, Halfrek, Kennedy thought. I know you have a nice necklace. A little gaudy, perhaps, but still kinda nice. Come to think of it, Vengeance Angel Amy has a nice necklace too. And so does Dark Buffy. Indeed, all their necklaces look almost the same. Almost as if they were some sort of special gift for becoming a justice dem --

Then it hit her.

And Kennedy turned toward Dark Buffy. And she could tell from the expression in Dark Buffy's eyes that she had already guessed what Kennedy was thinking.

I love you, Amy, thought Kennedy as she reached forward to grab Dark Buffy's necklace.

But Dark Buffy grabbed her by the throat first.

And though she could hear Amy -- not future Amy or Dark Amy but AMY -- screaming at the top of her lungs and preparing to cast a spell on Dark Buffy, Kennedy could already feel Dark Buffy's hands preparing to **** her to ****. You're going to be too late, Amy. But it's okay because it's a far better thing I do -- Oh, no. To hell with that. Might as well reach for my -- Oh, right. I'm naked. No clothes to hide a stake in. Which means I'm going to die. That sucks. (No pun intended.)

And then Faith Lehane grabbed the necklace off Dark Buffy's neck and proceeded to smash it to bits with a brick.
