"You gotta be kidding me, Amy," said Kennedy.

"Dark Amy," said future Amy.

"No, AMY," said Kennedy. "I don't believe any of that 'Dark Amy' nonsense. I'm surprised that you do, Amy. You're better than that."

"You promised to obey me and you didn't," said future Amy. "Then you sided with my enemies against me. And here I thought you were my friend."

"I AM your friend, Amy," said Kennedy. "And I never promised to obey you. I promised to be kind to you but I never promised that I was going to be your ****. After all, a true friend often chooses what's right over what's convenient. And sometimes true friendship -- and yes, true love -- means telling someone something they don't want to hear because they need to hear it. I've been a truer friend to you than you know."

"Then why won't you kill Dark Buffy for me?" asked future Amy.

"Because there's no need to," said Kennedy. "She's been defeated. I'll readily defend you against any active threat but once the threat is gone, there are just some things that I will not do."

"And you promised to be kind to her," said a voice from behind Kennedy.

She turned and saw Vengeance Angel Amy standing behind her. Behind Vengeance Angel Amy Halfrek stood, and as Kennedy watched, Halfrek tugged at the gaudy necklace around her neck and mimicked taking the necklace off her neck and throwing it away. However, Kennedy paid little attention to the gesture.

Instead Kennedy turned toward Vengeance Angel Amy and said, "What are you doing here?"

"Wondering if I should wake up Darla," said Vengeance Angel Amy.

"Wake up Darla?" asked Kennedy. "Why?"

"Because neither I nor Dark Buffy are allowed to toss you off the roof," said Vengeance Angel Amy. "But Darla is. And if she can't do it, I can always go elsewhere and bring back Drusilla or Vamp Willow to help her. There must be a multitude of vampires out there who would relish the opportunity to toss a Slayer off the roof of this building. And since you broke your promise to me, I'm no longer obliged to abide by the spirit of Jonathan's wish. In other words, you are now officially a viable target, Kennedy."
