Intense

Mark arrived ten minutes late for his interview and the managing partners looked less than thrilled. After a night of hubris, too many beers and wild sex Mark realized he was not at all prepared for the interview. After a rough forty or so minutes Mark said his goodbyes to the managing partners and knew that he had blown a golden opportunity.

Mark returned to his desk and proceeded to do busy work for the next couple of hour or so before messaging his senior associate to tell him that he wasn't feeling great and was going to take the rest of the day off. He slowly gathered his things, put on his coat and went back to his apartment. A night that seemed to be a dream turned quickly into a nightmare and Mark just wanted to forget about everything. Once home, he grabbed a cold beer from the fridge, watched a little tv, sent Sara a text saying he left work earlier and would see her that night, shut the blinds, turned off his phone and slipped under the covers.

Around midnight a loud banging sound from the kitchen woke Mark. He heard what sounded like someone entering the apartment and the sound of high heeled shoes on his hardwood floor. Quickly he grabbed his phone to turn on the flashlight and noticed texts and missed calls from Sara. Turning over he realized the Sara was not in the bed and that she must be just getting in. Realizing that Mark was awake, Sara sat down next to him and held his hands.

"Hey sweetie, I tried calling you earlier, I know this is going to be hard for you but......I got the job."
