Chapter 23 by Acorn142 Acorn142

How do I start my day?

Talk to one of the contestants

I get to my office early and am surprised to see someone already waiting for me. I recognize the woman as Meg Auschel, one of the contestants for the upcoming show. She stands as soon as I walk into the waiting area.

“Is there a problem?” I ask her, concerned that I may have to find a new contestant at the last minute if she has to drop out.

“No... No problem, Mr. Karley,” she says, somewhat nervously. It still feels weird to have someone refer to me that way — particularly someone a few years older than I am.

“Just Jeremy, please,” I tell her. “What can I do for you?”

She looks around nervously before answering. “There’s something I’d like to talk to you about. Perhaps in private?” Her eyes move toward the door to my office. I remember the conversation the day before about how contestants might be trying to gain unfair influence and how we should try to record any such attempts.

What should I do?
