A familiar face

When Kennedy finally regained consciousness, her head felt like she had been kicked in the head by a mule and she had trouble remembering where she was.

Why was it so sunny? Why was the ground so hard? She was in Paris, wasn't she? No, wait. She was somewhere else. But where? Sunnydale? She remembered landing naked in the high school basement and then? What next?

"Do you think we ought to take her to the school nurse?" asked a familiar female voice.

"Probably," said another voice, this one a male one. "But first you might wanna check her purse first so that you can find out who she is. She might have a mother or father that we need to call."

"Good idea, Xander," said the first voice.

Kennedy opened her eyes and saw two familiar figures standing in front of her. One was Xander Harris, the man who had helped Buffy train her as a vampire slayer. The other was her beloved girlfriend Willow.

No, wait. This could not be her Willow - any more than the Xander before her was her Xander. Kennedy had left that Willow behind in Paris. So this had to be present Willow, right? That explained why she did not seem to recognize her.

Still Kennedy was so happy to see any Willow that she instantly tried to stand up so that she could hug her. But her legs were not quite steady. So instead she hugged Willow's legs.

"Looks like you've made a friend," said Xander.

"Well, after what Cordelia and that new girl did to her, I don't blame her for needing a hug," said Willow.

"She's not needing a hug, Will," said Xander. "She's giving one out."

"You know what I mean, Xander," said Willow. "Anyway, let's look inside her purse and see who she is."

"What do you see?" asked Xander.

"Not much," said Willow. "A coin purse, some lipstick, a gum wrapper, a vial of holy water, a cross and -- oh, my! -- a pointed stake."

"Wait a minute," said Xander. "She had all that in her purse?"

"Yes, Xander," said Willow. "Are you thinking what I'm thinking?"

"How to take over the world?" asked Xander.

"No, Xander," said Willow. "I'm serious. This girl is a vampire slayer. Which means we gotta take her to Giles."

Kennedy smiled and started to say something. But nothing came out of her mouth.

So she settled for just standing up and kissing Willow on the mouth instead.

"Well, she's definitely different from the other Slayers we've known," said Xander.
