When Kennedy Met Cordelia

Kennedy scanned the crowds for any sign of Buffy Summers but she could see none.

However, she did see Cordelia. And next to her was her friend Harmony Kendall. And next to Harmony was --

"Anya!" exclaimed Kennedy. "I'm so glad I found you."

The blonde girl who went by the name Anya Emerson -- and later on Anya Jenkins -- just blinked at the sight of Kennedy running up to her and hugging her like a long-lost sister.

"Who are you?" asked Anya.

"Why, I'm Kenn -- Oh, it's not important," said Kennedy. "I really do want to talk to you. Do you have time to come with me to the school library?"

"Why would I want to go there?" asked Anya. "I'm perfectly fine hanging out here with Harmony and Cordelia. And how do you know my name? I've never seen you before in my life."

"It's a long story," said Kennedy. "Come with me and I'll tell it to you."

"No, thanks," said Anya. "I'd rather hang out here with Cordelia."

"But you really need to come with me," said Kennedy.

"And I said, no, thanks," said Anya.

"In that case, I want to make a wish," said Kennedy.

"What do I look like?" asked Anya. "A genie?"

"No, seriously, Anya," said Kennedy. "I wish that my friend Amy --"

"Hey, whoever you are," said a voice from behind. "Take a hint. You're disrupting a private conversation. Go find someone else to bug."

Kennedy turned and saw that Cordelia was glaring at her. "I'm sorry to interrupt, Cordelia, but this is very important."

"And so was what I was saying," said Cordelia. "So please go away!"

"But, Cordelia!" exclaimed Kennedy.

"I said go," said Cordelia. "And for what it's worth, I don't even want to know how you know my name, regardless of whether or not 'it's a long story'."

Kennedy just ignored Cordelia and turned back toward Anya. "Anyway, Anya, I wish --"

"What part of 'go away' don't you understand, mystery girl?" asked Cordelia, tugging at Kennedy's arm. "And if you have to be here, why can't you have the decency to be quiet? Quite frankly, I wish you'd just shut up and stop talking to people."

And just like that, Kennedy saw Anya's face break out in a smile.

After that, she heard Anya say, "Wish granted."

Then Kennedy suddenly discovered that she was unable to say a single word.
