Ride it to the Top

Despite having to crawl through a tight hole in a fence, it was surprisingly easy to make it to the lift at the back of the building. The only concern Bethany had was if anyone would hear the noise of the rusty old thing.

“Fuck it, won't get another chance at this.”

She reached towards the lever that seemed like the “up” switch and pushed it. She heard a metallic groan and felt a sinking sensation as the lift ascended upwards. As she feared, the lift made a large amount of noise as it rattled and clunked it’s way slowly up the building, but no one came to investigate the disturbance.

_“They must be used to all the noise by now,” _she assumed.

Doubts started to invade her mind as the lift took her closer to the top. Was this really the best idea? She had no clue where they were keeping Blair and Gwen in the building; assuming that they were even in this place. On top of that, she didn’t even know if she could get into the building through the roof. Why was she so determined to save these people she had never met before? Perhaps she was tired of the normality of her life, the same bored and dull faces that passed her everyday on the street, for once she had a chance at an adventure, to do something only people in stories did. There was really no other reason she could think of to risk her life like this.

There was no time to worry any longer though as the lift came to a stop as it reached its destination. She stepped onto the roof and Bethany immediately let out a sigh of relief as he noticed a door at the far end. She wasn’t certain if it was unlocked or not but she could always **** her way through since there was little chance any guards would be all the way up here.

Staying cautious however, she opted to crouch and walk over there, but stopped when she noticed the sunroof. Two sections of the roof were made of glass, and Beth could faintly hear the sound of wet slapping. She just couldn’t tell exactly which roof the sound was coming from.
