Smooth walk, then training

"Hear you go, there all better now."

The nurse Joy smiled at you as she hands you the pokeball tray, you return the smile as you reposition the four balls to your belt. As you return the tray you were reminded of something you saw on the way back.

"Oh I just remembered, I saw this small lake in town west of here, is that place safe to catch pokemon or train?"

She only needed a moment before realizing what I was talking about.

"Yes it is, but only on the west side of the lake, between the lake and the small cliff wall, it is actually a trainer park. So you'll be safe there to train, catch Pokémon, or even have battles."

After a quick bow of thanks you quickly make your way there. It took a few more minutes to find the path through a few trees but as soon as you cleared them you were in the nice wide area. You make quick work of releasing Sushi and your new Paliwag Mizu, who quick got out of the water and behind your legs as soon as he saw the Magikarp.

"Hmhm, it's ok Mizu you can stay up here and be my bodyguard, now Sushi I want you to be carful there are Tentacool in this lake but other then that see if any other Magikarp down there wants to battle. Try not to rough them up, to bad."

I give her a wink as she seem to like being given the greenlight to "play" with more pokemon, sinking back into the water. I spare a look at my leg were Poliwag is hiding.

"Sorry if she roughed you up too much last time, I just really wanted to meet you, I didn't expect her to do what she did with you."

He looked up at me and nodded. After a few minutes he came out of hiding and you spared a glance at the lake, as you consider how aggressive your little Sushi could be.

"what are the odds you think, that she's going to come out of the water as a Gyarados in an hour?"

Mizu just seemed to sigh at the question, but then again if you were just recently the ammunition in a Magikarp torpedo You'd be a little more wary of the Pokémon yourself. But before you could say anything to reassure him, you heard something rustling from one of the trees before a black blur shot out and tried to nail your Poliwag. He luckily managed to dodge out of the way just as a Spearow made a decent gouge in the ground with its beak. You quickly regained your bearings as it quickly took back to the air and turned to face us ready to dive again.

"Mizu use bubble! try to keep it away from you, show it your nobody's free lunch."

He quickly jumped a few feet in front of you before seeming to lean back and produce a wave of bubbles from the center of the swirl on its body. The flying-type didn't seem to like this much after a few of them popped in front of its face. It tried to fly to the side to clear them but luckily Mizu kept firing and following the birds path. Finally the bird flew up a little higher before it looked down at us, his eyes started to glow red. Right away your Poliwag stopped attacking and seized up in fear. With the wave of bubbles gone, Spearow reared back and started to dive bomb again his sharp beak giving a dangerous gleam.

"Mizu! Snap out of it and use hypnosis."

Fortunately Poliwag heard me and shook its head regaining it self before it's belly swirl started to glow. You didn't even need to be in front to know the glow was pulsing in a way that give the illusion it was spinning (One of your many national pokegraphic magazines back home mentioned this) but you watched as the Spearow continued it's dive as it stared intently at its prey, a mistake on its part as the attack worked and its eyes quickly closed, after that it was a simple move for Mizu to get out of the way and let let the bird hit the ground digging a deep trench in the earth for a few feet. After that it was a simple pokeball throw and you got a new pokemon.

"Great job Mizu! Isn't that right Sushi?"

You had noticed not long during the fight that Sushi came back and was watching calling its name out happily at Mizu's fight, you leave the blushing Poliwag as you pickup your new catch. You gave it a half smile as you felt like this one might not be a permanent fixture on your team but you could tell he'd be a great help in the gym and through the forest, and if nothing else you knew Oak would take good care of it for you. As you check on your two pokemon you give a sigh of exacerbation at the SCHOOL's worth of tentacool floating belly up in the lake around Sushi.

'Sigh. Why am I not surprised she went after them anyway. Not that I'm complaining but she's going to break a record or something at fastest Magikarp to Gyarados evolution.'

you are suddenly broken from your thoughts by somebody crying out.

"that fight was so cool!"
