Xira, virgin queen of the Amazons.

You are Queen Xira, the newly crowned ruler of the Amazons of Accor, and you were currently sailing to the city of Athenapolis to burn it to the ground. For generations, mercenaries hired by the accursed city have raided your island, ceased your ships, and less than a year ago, killed your mother while she was still in her prime.

In what would become known as the Battle of Elaina, your mother, Queen Hyphiroe, led a large fleet of galleys to the river mouth to blockade Athenapolis’ central sea trade lane. She planned to land on the river mouth under the cover of darkness and have the blockade raised before dawn. When the Athenians realized what they were doing, the Accoians would be entrenched and ready to drive back any attackers. However, when the Accorian fleet arrived at the river mouth, they found a mercenary fleet nestled within the bottleneck. The vessels bore the banner of the White Wolf, an infamous mercenary band led by the warlord Aristidis Mutos and his two lieutenants, Eftichios Nassos and Kostas Rodias.

While unexpected, your mother didn’t come unprepared. To the rear of the fleet were her newest warships, the drake carriers, giant floating roosts for the great beasts and their riders to rest on as they sailed into battle. They were manned by the valkyries, the amazon's newly appointed drake riders, and the amazon queen’s best-kept secret. Any resistance they faced at the river Elaina would be prepared to fight amazons, not well-rested riders. Yet as Queen Hyphiroe flew into battle on her black drake Thorn, alongside her valkyries, ballista bolts, and nets flew through the air, slaying and netting drakes. Moments after the bolts filled the air, a fleet of large barges hidden on the riverbank rowed behind the amazons and trapped them within the bottleneck.

Upon seeing the trap, your mother tried to rally her forces into an orderly withdrawal, but as she drew her sword, a bolt shot through Thorn's chest, and both queen and drake fell into the sea. If it weren’t for the determination of your sisters and the leadership of Atheas, your entire fleet would have been lost.

Your coronation was heralded by the greatest defeat in Accor's recent history. Your fleet was almost decimated, the bulk of your army was now made up of younglings, your drake riders had no drakes to ride, and one of the most famous queens in Accor’s history was dead. Even worse, the new queen was young, impulsive, and blinded by rage.

You were going to burn your way into Athenapolis, **** every man within the city walls, spread your amazon curse to every woman who dared to share a bed with these vile men and claim the heads of the three mercenaries that killed your mother. But first, the mercenaries’ presence at Elaina was no coincidence. Someone within your kingdom betrayed you, and once you found out who it was, you were going to feed them their own heart.
