They never return

You continue working, but keep an eye out for the players return. However, after an entire day they still haven't returned and you only saw one other player who didn't approach your farm and quickly disappeared in the nearby forest.

Did the players decide they didn't need your room? Have they found another place to stay or are they camping in the forest? No that seems unlikely. They had no bedrolls or tent on them.

Perhaps they died. But then they would have respawned and come back. Also your quest is supposed to be super easy, with it being a formality in order to not give out the room for free and encourage the players to move on and not some challenge for then to surpass.

So that means they simply left after having agreed to help you out. Typical player! They say they will help you out and then they never do cause it's just a minor side quest without a major reward.
